AmitUk 0 Posted December 9, 2009 Report Share Posted December 9, 2009 I have just had my car super charged and it freaking flys!No I need to tighten up the gear change as its just too sloppy. Its a little notchy going into a couple of the gears and the lever is just a bit loose.Is there a bushing refresh kit available like on mk1s?Or is there a nice upgraded shift kit worth getting?Amit Link to post Share on other sites

I think the notchiness is probably worn selector rods, I think this is fairly common in these cars. jesterwalker69 0 Posted December 9, 2009 Report Share Posted December 9, 2009 I got myself a Neuspeed quick shift kit from Awesome GTI as my gears were sloppy - and it SERIOUSLY tightens them up. Plus i hardly even need to move my arm when changing gear now!!! Link to post Share on other sites

jesterwalker69 0 Posted December 9, 2009 Report Share Posted December 9, 2009 Yer thats the baby!Doesn't take all that long to install. You do need to get under the car though so access to lifts would be a great help.You basically remove the exhaust section that runs under the shifter. Loosen all relevant screws and connections and drop the shifter assembly out. Then reverse the procedure with the new assembly. Shouldn't really take a garage more than an hour 30 - 2hrs very max. I didnt want to spend that sort of money..Was hoping there was a nice cheap bushing refresh kit.Also dont know if the wife would be comfortable with a shorter shift.Amit Link to post Share on other sites
