VF or Vibra?

Recommended Posts

I already have a Vibra gearbox mount.. I want to replace my Turn2 front and rear mounts but I'm unsure which brand to go for, stick with Vibra or go for VF.. Vibra seem to be cheaper but are the VF's worth the extra..

Vibras website quite £70 for the rear and £125 for the front which seems pretty good!

Need them ASAP, are they off the shelf bits or made to order?

Cheers

Hi Mark

I've got a VF front mount on mine and it does exactly what I had hoped it would. There is little or no engine movement and it makes a big difference when braking and cornering. To reduce vibration, I went for standard rear and gearbox mounts but time will tell if they can take the extra BHP. The VF mounts are not favoured by some because when used all round they can cause excessive vibration inside the car. More of a track car feel imo. From what I've heard the Vibra mounts are not as harsh as the VF ones when fitted all round.

You should be able to order them off the shelf but I can't remember how much I paid for my front mount. I'll try and find out and let you know mate.

You can get away with stiff front mounts because the front cross member is isolated from the chassis with rubber donuts. With the rear and gearbox mounts, any vibration will be transmitted directly into the car.

I use all 3 Vibratechnics. Competition at the front, Fast road at the rear and Competition gearbox.

That's probably a little vibratory for some, but for me it's as far as I'd go personally. It's not harsh at all but the engine loses it's smoothness under hard acceleration. I've been in a MK3 with VF all round and it was unbelievably smooth! Couldn't believe it, but that's how it goes sometimes. If I did that in my Corrado the dashboard would be shaken to peices within the hour.
