Slim 0
Mine are totally seized and I can't get my old plate off to get my new German one on. I've tried soaking them in WD40, all sorts of screwdrivers, even taken the trim from inside the bootlid off and tried to prise off the bits on the inside of the tailgate and nothing. The only option seems to be to drill the heads off the screws to get the plate off then grind the rest of the screw so it's flush with the tailgate so I can get my new plate on with adhesive pads.Is there anything I've missed or an easier way of doing it? acf8181 0
if you done need the current plates just snap the plate off and chisel it out form the bolt...then the bolt will prob undo with a pliers on it.if you need the plates take kev's advice.
cliveyp 0
i drilled mine out completely then used a shallow headed bolt and nut to hold the plate surrounds on. Only one was siezed, the other just free'd up!
Slim 0
I ended up drilling the f*ckers out and filling the hole up with silicone. Used 2 packs of them pads from Halfords to put my plate holder in so I can easily change plates over if the filth don't like my German ones.
