Air con checking

Ive had a new engine put in & ive only just thought to check if the air con works. The button lights up, but not sure if its working, as the cold air without AC is cold enough! Is there any way i can check if its working? Testing contacts? Listening for something kicking in?

mine didnt work when i bought the car the solanoid clicked but no cold air just needed refil btw afaik theres no discernable diference ie it sounds the same if the gas is gone

you can definately hear when the AC turns on and off, it will whir up and the car will click and when you switch it off, its like a jet engine spooling down...

I'll go back to the peeps who fitted my engine. I would have thought that it would have been included in the fitting price.

you can check to see if it's working by switching it on and if you feel the aircon pipes one of them should be quite hot to touch and the other one should be really cold .

why dont u just look to see if the clutch on the air con compressor kicks in? Pete

The clutch on the compressor can still kick in even just with a small ammount of gas in.It would probably still need gasing up.

yeah if its all kicking in and there is no cold air coming in then it needs gassing, also feeling the temperature of the pipes will tell this too i think, 1 should be very very very cold.
