VR6-DUB 3
Just checking my vr6 service history book, which has been fully stamped by VW up to 85639. My next service is due 95639, and my car at the moment is just over 96000.The service due now is is goner be a major or minor service, my main concern is the cambelt or timing chains? Also where is the best place to take it for the service work to be carried out for a reasonable price? Ideally near bedfordshire area.Thank you.
thegoth 5
Does the dash flash some letters (IN 01 or IN 02) at you when you first start the vr? 01 is minor, 02 major.it's getting to the stage where you should be worrying about the chains but if they are quite they are fine. Look in the information vault for a sound clip of chains which need changing. in fact 'timing chains' is a link to the thread.my mother has always used Autopoint, now near the station, for her lower dubs. But I think 'Gary' has now left, I'll find out tomorrow. Might not be keen on doing a VRs chains but should do the service.
VR6-DUB 3
Yeah mate, my cousin was on about that place he said they pretty good and are vw specialists. If you can find out for me that will be great, hopefully they do the timing chains.I don't remember the dash flashing the letters i will have a look 2moro and get back to you.Thank you for everything so far. I watched that video, my timing chains dont sound like that.
Dave Lea 4
my chains were not noisey but when i striped them they were well worn allways worth cheking
thegoth 5
Spoken to my mother. Gary has indeed struck out alone. He now runs GLS Motor Services in Strathmore Ave, up near stockwood park, 07852 357799
VR6-DUB 3
Thanks mate, should i take it to autopoint, or gls motor services?Do you reckon gary will do the timing chains if i need them done?
thegoth 5
my ma recommends Gary, and I quote "he's a nice young man". But as she is pushing 70 'young' could be anything up to middle age! after going to autopoint for as long as I can remember her business went with him toGLS.give 'em a call to find out. Rayhoop 0
Hi mate. When the indicator flashes up 'in 02', when I carry out a service, Im guessing I need to use a service reset tool(?) to remove the indicator??? Or is it magically dependent on sensor readings?
