ok, im trying to decide between the Concept 550 and Intelliguard 750. Im not worried about blackjax so thinking the 550. On the clifford website it has (in the features table) a row called Autolock/Unlock where the 550 says IGN/RPM/ W/IS and the 750 just has IGN/RPM. Whats all this about?

although i think clifford are the best make for car alarms, a few people i know have no end of problems with theirs. I had a toad ai606 in my golf and it was fantastic, as far as alarms go !

Might be worth looking into a remote start module for those cold cold winter nights ahead !

Clifford 650, they cost about 350 fitted and are the best value one IMO. And blackjax and remote start is not on thatchams list, as remote start is nothing to do with security really just convenience or arse warming :P , and blackjax is cliffords own system. The toad ai606 is a good alarm but not as good as clifford and they cost about the same. The only prob with the cliffords is they all come with a dual proximity warning, which it chirps when someone is near your car, good idea but it also goes off when it rains :o and wakes me up, unless you have it on the lowest setting so it wont detect anything then. You can disarm it each time you set the alarm but its a bit of a pain all the same. Apart from that ive had four clifford 300 alrms and they have all been excellent ;)

clifford manual and technical bulletains all highlight the fact that blackjax ( also valet switch tends to wear out when blackjax on)and intellistart which is available for the g5 range and can be retrofitted to g4 range negate cat one status. one of first things they tell at installers and sales staff meetings. Quite easy to change the dual zone prox sensor for a standard clifford microwave so no more chirping. (dual zone prox not standard on concept 300 which is still available) . both toad and clifford good alarms, take your choice.

best system for remote start prob clifford as car will stay locked and cut out if any one trys to nick it while engine running after using remote start, however check that the fitter will give you the certificate as my company would not as remote start negates thatcham cat one status. lots of companies will though, just no comeback if insurance find it on there in the unlikely event of someone managing to nick it

Don't know if your alarm has been purchased but my advice is STAY AWAY from clifford. Having problems with it (not on the VR) were the remote fobs aren't working. As its beene fitted over a year clifford are washing their hands of me. Their alarms only come with a one year warranty on all parts and then then brain is all that remains under warranty (must have missed that in the small print). Now I've got to fork out to get it sorted whatever it is. B*llocks really and doubt I'd buy a clifford again. Funny I've only ever heard bad things about clifford alarms and never any other make in my experience....

Only problem I had on my Clifford, not on the VR, is that in certain areas, especially those heavily loaded with antennas, the alarm wouldn't respond. Thought Clifford went under anyway. Toad is a good alarm but it's a bit quiet for my liking. Cliffords are LOUD, just like it should be.

Ive got a Scorpion alarm which is ok, but the toad ai606 is probably your best bet. I jad one a couple of years ago and never gave me any trouble and was fairly priced. Ive heard a lot of good things about them including no false alarms and very reliable. Like the sound of that remote start on the Clifford though!
