Coddy 0
Well, it's finally gone. As much as it hurt I let it go for £2700. I think the lesson I learnt was don't buy a car like this with an auto box because nobody wants them. It was a great car and I had a bit of fun with it. I may get another one at some point but right now a modded MK1 looks appealing. After going to the Campaign Register 21st birthday do and seeing 147 MK1 GTi's all in one place, I want one. Does anybody know if a VR6 lump has been fitted in a MK1 ?
Geastb 0
I think i've read about one somewhere - never seen it in the flesh tho.Why did you sell it?
tommy 0
Yes........there were quite a few back in the day....(mid to late 90 anyway) .......................I?d get in touch with pvw as I?m sure they have featured a few over the years,awesome-gti.did a couple back in 1999ish ............most opt for the 1.8t or g60 nowerdays as they are lighter and more tuneable per £ [ Edited Thu Sep 30 2004, 04:21PM ]
tandino 1
Yes the 'Awesome' VR6 was the first iirc (i saw it debut at Gti International all those years ago 8o) ) - it was running throttle bodies and never before had such a sweet noise come from a Mk1 - awesome car - dont know how well it would handle though - you have to shoehorn a modified Mk3 subframe in there - also the VR6 is quite a dep engine and hangs very low in the bay giving ground clearance problems if you run the car V.low (not that this seems to stop people though :! ).....Matt at Designadubs created a home brew affair and it looked it - Quattro sport bonnet etc - looked blody awful ...Tbh i dont really think the VR6 lump is part of the Mk1 spirit - little light car with a hefty lump up front - keep it light mate Pete.
