acf8181 0
have you had the fault codes checked? (make sure they get cleared and then rechecked)if that comes up with nothing then it means its either leads, plugs, or coilpack AFAIK they are the only things that wont show on a diagnostics. Eat this 2
no i havnt had it checked dya mean vagcom?
acf8181 0
yep...i've learnt its alwasy the first thing to do if theres a prob. these vr6's are very very complicated elctronically and you just can't fix them through trial and error.oh, whilst on subject of vag-com, anyone know where i can get an OBD1 adapter cheapest? (it plugs into the obd2 lead)
Eat this 2
my original question was is it feasable that the plugs and leads hav never been changed its done 69k if it is coilpack or leads which im 90% sure it is, as u say it wouldnt show up on vagcom anyway hehe and im workin on the theory that the leads hav been fiddled with to change the plugs so their more likely to b the prob
acf8181 0
leads that have 69k are likely to be on the worn side i suppose. get proper vw ones (the red ones), the quality is much better than copies.maybe worth checking they are all pushed onto the plugs properly first. Eat this 2
checked they r in properly they r red ones and thats what il b replacin them withspose i shouldve got leads done at same time as plugs to save the hassle
SankysVR6 1
fitted my new red leads this aft and boy what a difference its made. then again i might be just me? but i do think it pulls away a lot smoother
Nerih 0
if your sparkies were anywhere as crap as mine, then yes you'll feel a difference through 3000+ rpm. The petrol wasnt being burnt properly and therefore the engine was not producing the power it shouldve been at given rpms.
SankysVR6 1
i had some cheap and nasty champions ones on. i coudn't get them off at first with the new tool. so just yanked them out.the new ones have made a one hell of difference.
