Geastb 0
I'm having a new (re - s/h) engine installed today cus i got fed up with the oil consumption on the old engine. What should i do with the old engine? It need a new head gasket for sure but apart from that it does run very well (apart from burning oil a bit!)Would it be worth keeping and re-building or sell it as it is? acf8181 0
you could keep it to be rebuild, or you could put it on ebay (as long as you say that whats wrong with it)

acf8181 0
how much you want for it GeastB? might be useful for myself, if its cheap.
jcorallo 0
@vr6Pete - OBD1 heads and OBD2 heads are exactly the same, only differences come in with the camshaft sprockets - OBD1's have double row whilst OBD2's have single rows. The cam sprockets are fully interchangeable on the cams also as they are the same fitments - so if you wanted to swap in a full OBD2 head with cams, you'd only need to swap the sprockets onto it from your old head.Jules
acf8181 0
bottom end is the same AFAIK, except intermediate pulley of course.[ Edited Tue Sep 21 2004, 07:10PM ]
Geastb 0
Make me an offer probably looking for around £150ono complete. It does need the head gasket doing and its a bit oily in general but apart from that it still runs ok with no knocks or funny noises!
VR6Steve 0
As per Jules - the heads are almost the same. Stealth fitted an OBD1 head to my OBD2 car a few months back.

Geastb 0
I think the previous owner must of had them done (worked for a VW stealer) as the engine has done 150k and there are no funny noises! But i've no way of telling without taking it to bits!
