IMPORT INFORMATION

Recommended Posts

hi all,

i might be going to the dark side to buy a second hand german imported golf mk4 tdi 150,

are there many differences in anything like the engine or brakes etc etc,

ive noticed the stereo is a standard fit but not like a normal gamma unit,

any info on pros or cons would be most helpfull,

regards jon.

My Mk4 is a TDI 150 and is a wicked car.

Pro's

Get it revo'd and your looking at BHP and torque figures higher than a VR6 and you will still get over 40mpg!

If is 2002 or younger you will get cheap tax I pay £115 a year for mine!

Cons - You'll miss driving a revvy petrol car if your used to a VR6 ;)

What specfic infomation are you after?

As far as I am aware most import cars are mechanically the same as UK built cars.

My mum owns a imported V plate polo which the preious owner had built to order from Holland!

We dont generally have any problems getting parts for it. But sometime like you say some of the car places computer systems dont pick up the number plate.

hi pete,

picking up the car 150 bhp thursday 20th,from what i drove of it on the test drive it aint far off from the power of the vr6 or the 4 motion, and ive owned both,

but i think with the chip in it (if and when i do it) it will wipe the floor with both vrs, upto about 120mph but how many of us do that everyday?

more power but with less running costs eg-tax and fuel makes sence to me,

i think i have saved about £1500 compared with the uk model with the relevent mileage, plus also the import is a much better spec,

the only thing i will miss is the noise of the v6 but i will be a lot richer in the pocket.

yea mate,

i will keep on coming on here to help anyone if i can,

i have joined the uk mki4 forum site plenty of info on there for all fuel types,

i filled it up today it cost £52 pound at £1.12 a litre, done 52 miles today lots of thrash and the gauge hasent moved, when the turbo cuts in at 1700 rpm all hell breaks loose, the torque steer in 1st and second gear is nearly uncontrolable in the wet, no regrets at all!!!!!!

regards jon.
