Whats cars can get smoked with a Supercharged Golf VR6?

Recommended Posts

thanks for the reply mate, i guess your right. i find the car excellent to drive when pulling off. Its very good from standstill. i have no complaints there. After 70ish mph, the fun kinda dies away unless if i start using gears 1,2,3 manually.

Ok amit, you can't put a Quaife ATB on an auto.

yeah i think autos have that stupid annoying restriction placed at 130mph. It doesnt go beyond 130mph/5500 rpm

Where did you get this from? I've had 150mph (private motorway) out of it but bare in mind this was on 17's and I have a road angel which shows the speedo to be out by 5mph.

The sc comes to life at 3000rpm but certainly not sluggish for 100+, this is the best bit!

To get the best out of an auto box is to hold it the gears, there is an art to using the auto box and most people think there rubbish. I can't use a manual as in a wheelchair and to fit a duck clutch is about 3k so the auto is the best route.

Yo all !! This is Parapower (I'm in a wheelchair hence the nickname - Yo Simey!! You 2 eh ;)Just joined the site, and here I am looking at all the remarks about "What cars can get smoked with a Supercharged Golf VR6?"

Everyone bar some, seem to think that Auto's aren't as fast or as good as manual VR6's. How wrong they are.

The best thing you can do, to get the most power with a VR6 Auto, (if you're half crazy like me) is to strip the engine bay to pieces, and start from scratch.

This is what I did. Stripped the engine bay 'till just the lump and box just sat there smiling at me.

Then I polished and chromed every nut bolt bracket etc. you can think of, and then put it all back together with new gaskets, the works.

Once I knew the Engine was up to the good hiding it was going to be given :) it was then time for the mods.

1. K & N 57i Kit

2. My home made (professionally made mind) enlarged stailess throttle body to sensor tube.

3. Supersprint manifold, pieced to a magnex straight through exhaust (de-cat of course).

4. Nitrous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd thought about doing the cams and a lot of other stuff but there wasn't much point - too much power = find out in a mo

The car runs perfect without the Nos, 191 true bhp, and would actually hit the rev limiter in top if I were to let it. 150 mph+

With the Nos I get a 15 second 150 bhp shot (or whatever I would like), and believe me I've not been smoked by anything yet, and I won't and don't need to touch wood.

The only way to go with an Auto, if you want the most out of it is Nos.

The problem is, when I first got the Nos I just went daft with it. You know the score, kickin ass at lights, only going home to re - fill the 2, yes 2 bottles in the boot.

After a week the box gave out. Luckily it was under warranty 'cos the bill 2 them was a big one. But that's not the funny bit.

The Auto Transmisssion Specialists couldn't work out why the box was so badly knackered. (I'd taken the Nos off before taking it into the garage).

One of the fellers that worked there showed me the box - complete with the welded cogs and bits of metal glued to one another.

The box had basically decided that the Nos had told it to eat itself and therefore had.

The moral of the story, still got my VR, know what you can and cannot do with Auto Boxes, and know how to make them quick. Nos is the definate answer.

On the rollers mines 191 bhp, and with a 150 bhp shot, that gives me 341 bhp.

Yep, I know you will all say bo**ocks but it's true.

Anyone who doesn't believe me, I'll gladly race against their VR6.

Now what was the bet again ?? he he

if you want power across a wide range, then turbo it.. once the inital lag is over then it'll pull hard and fast throught all the gears in an auto, and seeming as you don't ease off the throttle there will be no lag when the box changes gear, unlike a manual.. my mate has a Bentley Turbo-R, this car weighs (i think) bout 2800kg, yet it does 60 in less than 6 secs with an auto box, from 80mph up to 135mph it'll apparently out accelerate a porsche turbo (yeah, i don't really believe it either...) suppose the test would have 2 be more scientific.. but my point is that turbo lag won't matter in an auto and turbo are better for power aswell.. the VR6 EIP kit produces in access of 700bhp.. now we're into ferrari enzo bhp/tonne area here... it does 1/4 mile in 10.2 secs, a Koenigsegg CC does 0-60mph in around 3 secs and a quater mile in 10 secs... the figures speak for themselves.. the only issue is getting the power to the ground in 1st and 2nd, but lets face it, once you get going your not lightly to use those gears too much on a good piece of road.. a subaru or equivalent will only out handle a VR because of its electronics, without those their almost useless.. the subaru has 4wd, but the build quality is awful, where as the VR6 syncro or the V6 4Motion has 4wd, engines that are jus waiting to be tuned and industry leading bulid quality.. and how about the RSi gof in sweeden.. 4wd and 900bhp... now thats my idea of fun.. yeah, i kinda went off the subject, but i got the point across.. GOLFS RULE... 8o)

No....that's not what I'm saying.

When my engine had a Shrick VSR, Shrick S/c cams, shrick big valve head aswell as the stage 2 kit, it only produced 280bhp.....

So I don't understand how an otherwise standard 2.8 engine will produce 280bhp with just the stage 2 kit!!
