vwmadgirl 0
Ok can anyone help me out, im thinking of getting a turbo for my vr6, wheres the best places to go ect and whats best to go for....?Any help would be great
tandino 1
Well if i was going to do it (maybe later :! ) i would make a kit up myself - shouldnt be too difficult - i saw acustom Manifold for $530 - thats the main fabrication part. You will either need your own ecu remapped with bigger injectors or piggyback ecu - something like ERL MF2 or you could go standalone (expensive) then its a case of sourcing the right turbo for your application.Oil feed and return and depending on if you want to use a water cooled turbo you will need to plumb it in.You might want to think about adding a supplementary oil cooler to keep temps down.Alternatively if youve got loads of money - ie £3000 EIP tuning (not sure of the UK agent) or similar.Be prepared to find every weak spot on your engine/tranny as the torque will kill anything marginal - i replaced 3 gearboxes in my Saab in as many years and i am very sympathetic mechanically to my cars (i still track them and drive them hard)...A full engine rebuild might be a good idea if yours is getting tired.Pete. vwmadgirl 0
Thanks guys, i have been looking at EIP but was told it would be alot cheaper to source the parts from the uk and make the kit up myself......but what would i need to have it fully running??....need help pleasssssssseeeee :-)Please would i need to upgrade the clutch ??
mark@vagworx 0
I'd definately upgrade the clutch cos with the increase in torque the standard item wouldn't last too long. You'll need:Custom Exhaust ManifoldTurboExternal wastegate (if the turbo hasn't already got an internal item)Intercooler and custom pipingCustom DownpipeECU mapping.....possibly a piggy back item. You can run it on the standard compression but at low boost levels. For higher boost levels then the compression will need to be lowered.......thicker head gasket.

Macca 1
I like the look of that kinetic motorsport kit A LOT!http://www.kineticmotorsport.com/projects/kineticvr6tkit.htmlAlso like the price! Thats only about £1400. Looks like its all pretty new, but seems to be getting some positive feedback on the american forums. Also looks like theyre putting up some DIY instructions.Wonder if they can ship kits ovewr here easily?Group buy anyone!!!!!??? [ Edited Fri Aug 27 2004, 11:04AM ]
