Steve_W 0
Hi,Im planning to upgrade my brakes in the next few weeks, is the black diamond gear worth the money?Have seen other makes of grooved & drilled discs for a lot less money.Do you get what you pay for or are they just the latest fashion? Thanks
kalv 0
I think black diamond and mintex pads are a good combination...
Jimjon 28
i'd stay away from drilled discs they can be weak and start to crack around the holes, and grooved are quite noisy.am halfway through upgrading mine to 288mm brakes and probably getting standard VW items,
kalv 0
I've got both drilled and groved 312mm on mine.. no noises.. and no signs of cracks...If drilled holes were so bad, then why do most OEM Uber german cars have them as standard?
Steve_W 0
If cracking on drilled discs was that bigger problem they would never have got Tuv approval.

xyber 1
Im having a set of monster 325mm in the new year once my respray and wheel refurb are done, had a look at them today and they are MASSIVE
Steve @ 1
WIth regards to "drilled" holes the top end decent discs have the holes already cast into the disc. Drilling a disc after manufacture is not ideal due to the already mentioned cracking. Having said that I have run drilled discs on prev cars and they were fine.

I had to get custom brackets made to fit the porsche calipers... had to send them of to a machinest where he got an old MK3 hub from scrappy and made it fit...more here... http://www.heerit.co.uk/vw/porsche.htm - look at 2nd picture
Jimjon 28
not all discs will crack, mainly just cheap ones.the super german cars with drilled discs, have the disc put in when they are cast, not drilled afterwards
