apd 0
Seems difficult to get any purchase on the allenkey bolt at the back off the housing towards the bulk head?too many pipes in the way with spring clips on them.the only idea i can think off is to use a hex head in a universal joint mated to a flexidrive. The leak is minimal so would some kind of addative in the coolant that seals when meets atmospheric pressure[air]just be a short term measure.Any advice would be appeciated.Cheers. ingham 5
dont use any kind of adddative to seal leak ,very bad for vr engines !!
jcorallo 0
You need a long allen key, possibly one that has that rounded head to allow for a slight angle. Then you put a spanner on the allen shaft and turn as normal. If you dont have a long allen key, you might be able to use a short one, using the longest portion of the key into the bolt head, and hook a ring spanner round the protuding short end at 90degrees.Jules
mightyvr6 0
you still have to get at the nuts to torque them properly when you refit it, so it's probably best to remove all obstacles.
apd 0
thanks for the info.thought sod it and put some BURNS TURDS in,seemed to have done the trick=no leaks.I think it's that northern idle git mentality.

apd 0
no pic,but its under the coilpack.the pipework from the waterpump goes into it.it has 3 rounded ends with 2 plug ins.ones the thermostat plug in,the others the temp sender and ones a dummy end.does that explain it? acf8181 0
well, to make it easier remove the coilpack (4 bolts, 6 leads, and one plug).all the allen bolts in this area of the engine are very prone to rounding...replace them with new ones from the dealer when you get them off...saves hassle later.i had the one you're talkin about round...in the end i just snapped the housing off and replaced that part of it (£20ish), then angle grinded the head off the bolt (then you can usually just remove the rest of the bolt by hand).
