Jk* 0
I am going to have to replace mine before my MOT next year as i have two quite large stone chips on the drivers side. Was just wondering if there was anything special about the VR6 ones to other mk3 golf ones? Thanks.
SankysVR6 1
I started a thread about it when i had mine done, see if you can search for it.But just a few pointers if you can't.Make sure you look at the shaded bit at the bottom of the windscreen is wide enough to cover the holes on the dashboard. And it might be good time have one fitted with green shaded top part. jesterwalker69 0
I just got mine changed through Autoglass. I told them the make, model and year and they ordered in the screen. I enquired about having one fitted with the blue strip but decided against it as it made the car look dated.Apparently there are two types of plain clear screen for the VR. The difference lies in the mouting of the rear-view mirror. I didnt know this until the bloke i was making my appointment with asked me how far from the top of the screen the mirror was mounted. After finding the right screen and ordering it they came to work and fitted it all for £60! That was through my insurance company and it doesnt effect you NCB or your premium. If i hadnt had it done through the insurance it would have cost me £431!!!!

matth76 1
Elephant (same as Admiral) don't let you use Autoglass, so I had to use their approve fitter which is RAC. I just asked that it was a genuine VW screen...they said it would take longer but that was fine with me. I told them the year of my car and they worked out which one I needed. Def get a genuine VW part.
hellsVR6 0
£431?? *sniggers*..nah it's just that when I got my beastie the other week I noticed a crack in the windscreen and so as part of the deal I said I wouldn't shake hands until there was a new windscreen in, amongst a number of other things...lol!!! (Like 12mths tax, 12mths MOT, an Alpine stereo blah blah...) So I REALLY have cost the garage about £1000 whereas I handed over my old car + £350...I really have got myself a bargain tee hee! *dances round like a silly thing* :D
