T-cutting metalic paint??

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I polished my metalic black vr yesterday and after finishing i thought it could do with a t-cut. Question is are you able to do so as i have always had non metalic coloured cars i dont wanna ruin the paintwork stripping off a layer of paint. ?! Any help would be appreciated cheers.

Dave

theres two different types of t-cut (actually there's three, but one is called colour fast, so not really t-cut)...theres a red bottle (non-metallics) and blue bottle (metallics)...don't use the wrong one! it'll say on the bottle just to confirm this.

the wrong one will wreck your paint.

Personally I wouldn't go near T-cut but thats just me I can't get on with the stuff my car looks worse after i use it than when I started it.

Auto glym definalty do do a good range of products but personally all I do with cars which are dull are give them a couple of good coats of polish. For really dull cars I use a cutting compound such as G3 (but that is for really dull or faded paintwork) My cabbie's paintwork was not all that shiney but i gave her 3 coats of polish for BVF and she's been shining ever since. The polish I use is called Trade perfect and it made by contour you can get if from places like Brown brothers and some forecourts. It doesn't cost as much as auto glym but the results are just as good 8o)

I used some metallic T-Cut on mine. Was scared it would cut right through the paint, but i soon realised you need wrists of steel to get results. Mucho rubbing later, and i almost completely got rid of a big scratch. Also cleared up some overspray from my dodgy paint job easily.

Make sure its METALLIC T-cut though or you may well do some damage
