vr6lew 0 Posted February 15, 2007 Report Share Posted February 15, 2007 new to vr6 ownership-just bought a 94 3-door vr in indian red 81k on the clock.pretty tidy bit of kit.just doing an oil change on it,got my filter but unsure on what oil to go for? from a cold start the tappets are occasionally noisy for two seconds-i realise this is common but am hoping to quieten it down and smooth things up with a good choice of new oil.any suggestions please? matth76 1 Posted February 15, 2007 Report Share Posted February 15, 2007 Most on here use Quantum Synta Silver 10w40 which is semi-synthetic and The Phirm and Stealth recommend this too. I would definitely not use the much thinner fully synthetic as it is too thin for a vr unless really heavily modified. You can get synta silver from VW or GSF (they may have a website not sure what it is though). Link to post Share on other sites
