dubloke 4
i have the zimmermann x-drilled on mine front and rear with pagid fast road pads. have to say although not the most expensive set up its better than standard and doesn't need a lot of warming up to work well, like some other set-ups! six appeal 53
Get yourself a set of TT 312mm disks and carriers to use with your 288mm calipers (presuming you have 288mm not 280mm?). There's a thread on here about how to do it.[ Edited Tue Jun 29 2004, 11:41AM ]
acf8181 0
if you don't overheat the brakes with standard discs/pads, theres no point going for uprated/fast road stuff as you loose cold performance, and if you don't need to prevent fading theres no point.but what mr six appeal suggested is the way to go...as the brakes will work better (where as fast road discs dont make any difference, and only super soft fast road pads increase performance - but wear out really quick). ingham 5
your car 1992 right ?so 280mmyou will need 288mm calipers to fit 312mm brakes
acf8181 0
yep, just saw your sig...you'll most likely have 280's. way to tell is 288's calipers have a thin silver spring clip across the front of the caliper, 280's don't.
andy 0
what size wheels do you need to fit this bigger set up in, I fancy bigger brakes but can't imagine they'd fit under my standard 15inch BBS wheels

dubloke 4
have to say i disagree with you andrew on the cold performance of my set-up! having had the car for 4 years and with the standard set-up for 2, i have found the car stops quicker and brakes harder from cold with my set-up now! i do drive the car hard and have had to stop or slow very very quickly at times living in the country, and i'm not a loony in a car but never bought and modified it to pussy foot around the roads, but they do seem much better than standard! although i have gone through two sets of pads in 2 years nearly, but do use the car hard, as i said! acf8181 0
interesting...what set up do you have.i have o.e. discs, and pagid FR pads (had to as i overheat the normal stuff - not that i brake hard ; ) )on my last car i had ebc greenstuff, they weren't as bad cold as the pagid (not as good as o.e. tho), but gave a really long pedal. i even went back to o.e. and dealt with the fading instead, acuse it was a lesser evil IMO.
