VR top speed ?

What is the top speed on a golf vr6? obviously on a long stretch of private land, and are they limited to their top speed ? thanks

Yea their was a post on here about this a few days back, if your vr is standard you should get around 135-140mph,bit more if your lucky! All depends on mods really mate

in theory if we are talking about clock speed (what u see on ur speedo) a std one depending on health etc should see between 135 and low 140's, iv hit 152 on the speedo what was 147 on the gps,but that was nearly to the redline (about 6300) so i backed off lol

Standard VR gearing will give 172mph at 7000rpm, if you've got the grunt ;-)

Stock Corrados pull 146 (genuine) all day long as they're much better aerodynamically and when I had my schrick and cams on it, I had the needle resting on the stop past 160mph, which according to the GPS was 152mph.....Corrados have a higher rev limit.

Golf VRs with healthy motors should see a genuine 140ish flat out.

On my home from No-Rice on Wednesday i passed a dis-used airfield and found an abandoned runway in which i could practise my top speed runs (ahem! yea right..)

Managed 155mph, was well chuffed!

155 clock speed is nothing like 155 in real terms.

I've had my VR off the clock, and my GPS was just over 150.

lol! Not quite disintegrating just yet!

I'm treating the dash to a make over, should be finished in a week or two. ;)

Quite right too Steve, I was simply showing a picture i was stupid enough to take at such a high speed. I'm quite aware that speedo's are inaccurate. My TomTom gives me a gps reading that shows my clocks are out by around 7-8%

Iirc your car is supercharged is it not? My car is completely standard bar an air filer and i'm very pleased with the performance of it what ever the top speed may be.
