dellert 0
Have you checked the motor yet? Next the temp switches on the thermostat housing, fuse, then start looking for relays later.
speed_freak 0
when i turn my air con on should my fan cut in automaticly as this is wats is happening or is it that i have an electrical problem ?
stockers 1
the relays are underneath the coolant reservoir, just lift the clear clipped lid on the rectangular boxy thing under the reservoir...very technical i know...but its sunday morning

Focker-out 0
Sounds to me like its the rad fan switch if your fan is operating with the aircon running
speed_freak 0
where abouts is that mate ?
Focker-out 0
Screws into the radiator itself, find a plug with a rubber gaiter on it with 3 wires, unclip the plug and it unscrews, its between the top and bottom rad hoses!
dellert 0
Screws into the radiator itself' date=' find a plug with a rubber gaiter on it with 3 wires, unclip the plug and it unscrews, its between the top and bottom rad hoses![/quote']Are you sure?I thought the sensors were in the thermostat housing! There are three holes, and depending on model depends on how many have sensors in. Should be at least two, one for Fan and one for TEmp display.
speed_freak 0
yeah i thought that was the sensors too mine are in the thermostat housing as any1 any ideas as to which one it is though ?
SankysVR6 1
The one on the raditor is the temp sensor telling the fans to switch on. The one on the thermostat housing is the one for which speed to run it at, as it has 3 speeds.
Focker-out 0
^^^^Yup as i said before its screwed into the rad and as pointed out above the sensors on the thermostat housing are for the 3 speed fan, water temp to ecu and water temp to gauge!!
SHARKY 0
As you look at the housing (front of the engine), left to right they are :Left : Engine coolant temp. sensorMiddle : sender for temp guage and Auxilliary collant pump.Right : thermo switch for A/c overheat cut out and coolant fan speed 3This is taken from Bentley manual...I'd say it'd be one left one on yours - if its gone. When my fan stopped working the motor went on the fan, but I could smell a really awful burning smell (like electrical smell). Hope this helps ...
Focker-out 0
Sharky the "one on the left" is for the ECU its a blue one from memory!!This will have no effect on the coolant fan working when the engine gets hot!!It will be the switch on the radiator itself!!
