I'm chummy with my MOT man so emmisions aren't a problem !What do you replace it with ? just a pipe or what ? can you buy the bypass pipes ?many thanks allp.s well looking forward to the RR day in Feb. Was hoping to have the beast supercharged by then but the wife has others plans ! x)
binliner 0
you can buy a decat pipe but dont expect a 20bhp gain!
Guest couzens
I asked this question ages ago and was abruntly told it wasn't worth it.
binliner 0
yeah Vince at Stealth said dont bother its not worth the hassle... these things become worthwhile if youve got a highly modded engine though I think
simey 0
Supersprint are the only ones I know for a cat bypass pipe.
mina 0
Unless you've got forced induction, cat bypass is not worth it - you will actually lose torque low down as there won't be sufficient back pressure. My car runs a replacement Miltek sports due to the increased gasflow from the s/charger. On the last rolling road, Vince's exhaust vent shot back 8ft when my car hit 6000rpm!! !amazed
Guest couzens
As we r on this subject, if I wanted to have the vsr and rechip done, would I need to replace the standard exhaust system with a larger diameter after-market to aid gas flow or would the standard be efficient? acf8181 0
it surprises me that anyone would bother for a daily driver. i for one wouldn't want to go through the hassle of puttin it back on once a year! also, i believe that removing the cat can make the car a lot louder?! warwickA2VR 0
mines cat less ! and I can tell you its bloody noisy too. I wouldn't recommend removal
jcorallo 0
heh - taking the cat on and off is a PITA - so I got an exhaust specialist to fab me up a silenced cat bypass pipe. So its a "bolt in - bolt out" design - none of this seized together pipes nonsense.....Jules
simey 0
Depends on your exhaust for noise, the supersprint system with de cat pipe is 86db at 5000rpm which is pretty quiet compared to the noise of the supercharger!
bugwhizz 0
I've got a magnex twin DTM on mine with a cat bypass and i think it's very quiet to be honest!!
VR6Steve 0
Is a sport cat a better option? I was thinking of getting one when i can eventually afford my exhaust.
