jpc 0
My VR6 has been missing is the lower rev range when the engine was warm since I've had her, now recently it seems to have been getting worse and missing whilst cold as well. This morning is was raining (very finely spitting) and when I started her she gave off a very unhappy rumble, I slightly blipped the throttle and she missed like hell and lost power.Switched off and checked the oil, she needed some and was just on the min mark, filled her up, started her and off I went...on the way back home another big miss and a rumble from under the bonnet/car, parked her up outside the flat lifted the bonnet and sure enought.... tick tick tick tick, looking closer I can see a spark from the coil pack just above where a lead goes into it (1st one in the row of 6)Looking closer there seems to be a crack. Now I've read aboutthe epoxy solution, should I remove the coil pack and give it a coat?Is it the outside of the pack that I should be coating (where the crack is)? Whats the best epoxy to use?CheersJp
purple highline monster 0
sealing the crack is supposed to be possible, at the end of the day if your gonna removed the pack you may aswell replace it imo, get a good 2nd hand one or new if you can afford it, it saves doing the job 2 or 3 times in the future! dellert 0
I must agree, once the plastic is perished and cracked once it will do it over and over again, best to chuck it and replace it. GSF ones are fine and half the cost, think it was BERU.
VR6Pete 1,455
I've just replaced my coilpack on my VR6. got it from GSF and yes, it's a BURU. Changed my plugs at the same time while my manifold was off. It's running 100% better than before!

VR6Pete 1,455
That looks to be a distributer present on the early VR's with yours bein an OBD2 its different.I've not got the part # to hand, but I just phoned them up and gave them my chassis number and bobs your uncle, new coilpack Will you be replacing the spark plugs at the same time? If so, you will need the HT lead removal tool that looks like: Normally located on your bonnet prop. dont use anything else unless you want to risk damaging your leads.Pete
dellert 0
I can vouch for that, in my ignorance before finding VR6OC I just went for it and pulled at the cable! New set of leads, I didnt even learn after the first one! Makes it worse my tool was rubbing against my arm on the prop as I done it!!!
