Guys and girls,

I'm gonna order some suspension at the end of the month and want 40mm lowering thats a comfortable ride but still gives great handling at a good price.

I quite like the look of the spax kits they do a vsx kit which is fixed damping for £250 or practically the same thing with adjustable damping i.e the psx kit for £350.

My dilemma is is it worth the extra 100 quid for adjustable damping when you'll only probably ajust them once anyway ??

What do you reakon??

Have any of you got either of these kits?

Dave

I wouldn't bother with adjustable damping, my Koni's on my old car were adjustable, and as you predicted they were adjusted when fitted, then not touched for 3 years!

In my experience, the standard damping is right for the car anyway.

You could look at the GMAX kit mate. I have that on mine and its perfect. Only very slightly harder but still comfortable. Full kit for £200. Gas shocks so last longer than oil based ones and full 3 yr guarentee. The Phirm fitted mine. The gmax kit says it lowers it 35 mm but it is more like 40-45mm. Looks perfect.

second that, coilovers arent that much more and give you a better scope for modding, especially if you change wheels etc...imo its worth doing it right first time and my FK Highsports are spot on, decent price (£350) great quality nice drop and shed loads of adjustment to get the look you want, new top mounts bolts and 4 wheel alignment and the jobs a goodun, problem with springs and shocks is you are limited to the height and if its to high or low your stuffed!

i put eibach proline springs(50mm) and bilstein shocks in,low but not too low and handles great, yes i could go lower but our roads here are rough as a badgers ball bag so its a case of performance over looks for me, id recommend this combination to anyone not wanting their car on the deck for driving purposes, its tight but not too bangy over big bumps like some budget kits out there

Dstyrrell if you want to keep some comfort but still have the lowered look and improved handling over standard imo you should go for GMAC and get The Phirm to do it, I've posted some pics of mine if you want to see the end result. If you want something firmer then a set of coilovers is probably your best bet.

It's worth noting that FK Highsports are now WELL over £500 !

I am looking for a set for mine and I have been told this time and time again....... Damn.

Any other good Coilover options?

Weitec?

Mark.

Venommotorsport do some for around £300 there is a two page discussion on them on the ed38 mk3 section, as i was thinking about getting them.
