  1. Metal gaskets just arrived. Ordered them from Vince at Stealth. They are Elring part number 401.820 for anyone that needs to know.
  2. So its been nearly a month since the car has been off road and boy am I starting to miss it [emoji19].
  3. Dropped off the head to an engineering place this morning. Will be getting it skimmed and the valve stem seals replaced. Also just about to go and drop a rocker cover off to the powder coaters. My original one was plastic and I think the metal ones came on earlier vr6's so I got this one off ebay for £18.
  4. As title is anyone using a fx400 clutch on their vr? What are they like and where did you buy it from? I need to get one on order asap as my turbo vr will be finished soon and engine ready to go back in. only place I can seem to find is clutch masters direct in the US.
  5. Yea that's true il probably just leave it as it is. Trust me I've done the same not told the misses the full story! It doesn't really have to cost that much to be honest, I've just decided to go all out on it. You could do the turbo and not worry about a LSD, cams, short air intake, arp head bolts, oil cooler and colour coding everything that will save you quite a bit. I want 400+ bhp so decided to do everything.
  6. Thanks. I've got it going to an engineering place tomorrow. Just need to strip it down some more tonight.
  7. Coolant crack pipe just got delivered. Would have preferred it in black but nobody had 1 in stock. Ordered this one form awesomegti.com
  8. Cheers guys that's what someone else said and I put the pic up on here to get a second opinion. I will get the head down to a local place that has been recommended to me and get it sorted.
  9. Cheers mate. I've not properly added everything up but I am guessing around 4k up to now just on the parts. Still got to buy a clutch, boost pipes, silicone coolant hoses and a few other bits.
  10. Some of the other bits i have ready to go on: Schimmel 263 cams supplied by Vince at Stealth Siemens 630cc injectors bought off ebay Arp head bolts which i read were a definite must when going turbo. Bought from h-tune.co.uk
  11. Couple of other updates. I have dropped off the gearbox to a gearbox specialist in the area, he will be fitting the Wavetrac differential i have bought. Also picked up some Brembo calipers which came off a Seat Leon Cupra R. I bought these after following some advice from a mate who said they would fit straight on but i now know this will not be the case. I will see what work is involved when i am ready for them to go on. In the meantime i had them powder coated red as they were originally yellow. Since i had the calipers powder coated i've had this really bad urge of getting a lot
  12. Not really updated this as much as i should have. Been really busy with work. I'm probably just over a quarter of the way through the project now. The engine is out and on a stand. All the ancillaries are off and today i got round to taking the head off. I did notice something which does not look to good. Does anybody have any idea what could be the cause of all the oil around the valve in the picture...
  13. I have today taken my head off as i am in the middle of doing a turbo conversion. Does anyone know what could be the cause of all the oil around the top right valve in the picture...
  14. Bit of an update on the car. Got back to work on it on Saturday spent a couple of hours trying to get the 3 bolts on the exhaust flange before where the cat would normally go undone. They were rusted and were not budging at all! Ended up leaving them and coming back the next day with a Dremel and cutting them off. Last night we managed to get the engine out of the car. Its currently sat on my garage floor. I bought one of these engine stands you can buy from machine mart but does anyone know what size bolts I would need to mount the engine to the stand? Do they have to be a certain type to t
  15. Would you have a picture of the bonnet on the car so I can see how low the bad boy comes down?
  16. It's not a vento bonnet is it? Or if it's been bad boy'd will it not matter if it's being used with vento headlights?
  17. I was playing around with photoshop earlier. I'm wandering wether to bad boy it or not. What do you think people?
  18. Thanks mate. Any idea what sort of power my setup will be running? I'm hoping for around 400 horses
  19. I bought a used turbonetics GT35 with a turbonetics wastegate from another member on here. Also came with a 3" downpipe with milltek backbox. The other bits I've bought are: Short runner intake manifold Siemens 630cc injectors Arp headbolts Walbro in tank fuel pump Prism forged rods with arp bolts Mocal oil cooler Oil catch tank Schimmel 263 cams Wavetrac differential & install kit
  20. Yes mate I've got a short runner to go on
  21. Can you take them all off from above? Will I need to take the air intake manifold off to make it easier?
  22. It was the ones on the downpipe mate
  23. So we actually got started. Only spent a couple of hours on it tonight but i think we got a fair bit done. Here is the car just before we started on it... As you can see the garage is a bit tight to work in so we will be wheeling the car out as much as we can depending on the weather. We started by removing the front end. So headlights, grill & front bumper all came off. Then we disconnected the hoses off the radiator and let all the water drain out. After this was done we removed the slam panel and crash bar with radiator still attached. From what i can remember we also
