Hi all, just fitted my boxster twists.. but have a slight problem. The fronts are fine, but the rears are 8.5j fitted with stretched 205/40 rubber and sit in the arch just right with 25mm adaptors (arches have been rolled also) however were the rear bumper meets the wheel arch is rubbing on the top of the tyres when suspension compresses.. i cant see any way around this other than to adjust the camber and the toe angle slightly with use of either camber shims or washers. any further sugestions or anyone had this issue before? cheers all.

Rite.. finally insurance is not such a pain in my bank balance! Cancelled insurance and went with differnt insurer managed to get down to £1800.. big difference from nearly £2.5k! then i decided to add me mother on as named driver and got it down by another £400! im sure insures jus pull numbers out the sky and then give you them as a quote.. some are rediculous and then others are way lower.. i think £1600 in my possition is cheap! -
I had exactly same problem after doing my vr conversion.. changed plugs and leads and sorted it out.

going to be a long and expensive few years! its 5 years that you have to declare convictions for isnt it? -
I think now i have herd what you guys have said i will get a letter sent out as the more i think about it the more unrealistic of a test it seems to put the device about a ft away from the exhaust at ground level. failing that i guess it a new system.. with another silencer in!!
-
My system has the cat and then just the rear box.. He put the meter on a tripod about 8in away from exhaust.. at exhaust level not ear level.. was pretty much on the ground and right next to exhaust! took the background reading, took a reading at idle then took 3 readings at 4250rpm.
-
I spend most my time down here so guess im going to have to do something about it..annoying...!!
-
Exactly..its rediculous.. ive never been stopped by police anywere else for it ...i dont know if its just certain countys or wat!
-
Got stopped last night in suffolk (were i work) and the copper did a sound test on the vr.. apparently it has to be below 90db at 3/4 max revs and 82db or below at idle. Mine gave reading of 81db at idle and 98db at 4250prm. I dont think my exhaust is excessivly loud..its a full stainless system with a single oval pipe.. got a 30 quid fine and regestered on their system and if it gets tested again and fails i have to go to court! seems a bit extreme to me!

Yeh i think this year was always going to be expensive due to the points and ban. Well its not worth 2400 according to insurance, thats why i was wanting to go with HIC as am i right in thinking you can agree a true value of your car with them? Ive put around 900-1000 into car excluding the cost of car, and the time ive spent on it, so guess theres no choice but to pay it. -
Just renewed insurance for the year... HIC wudnt give a quote under 3k! so i just stayed with admiral paying £2400 for the year, im 21 with 6 points and a previous ban for speeding! still seems rediculous tho?!

17" porsche twists, help?
richgti97 replied to richgti97's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I will look up this calculator. cheers. I dont really want to run a massive stretch.. and ideally want the oputside of the rim sitting inline with the arches. At the min my car is on about a 70mm drop, cant go lower for sump reasons! -

sorry! internet went mad this mornin and reposted this message from 2 days ago for some reason! -
I have a set of 17" porsche twists.. fronts are 7in and rears are 8.5in. I will be fitting 195/40 on the fronts so shouldnt have a problem with rubbing as i have had the arches rolled and the pcd adaptors are 20mm. However i am after any advice on the rears, i will be fitting 225/35 tyres and hopefully the rolled arches will be enough to stop rubbing on the outside but can anybody shed any light on weather 20mm will push the 8.5in rim out enough to clear my coilovers.. as there isnt a great deal of clearance between the inside of tyre and the spring of the coilovers as it is with standard whee
