  1. How much posted, and are they all there? any damage? cheers .
  2. Can any1 help at all? i need it to be roadworthy by next weekend
  3. Well i have bent 8 valves when my timing chain slipped due to a self loosening tentioner bolt And ive been looking around and arround, but i cant find a good deal on some new valves, can anyone help me?
  4. So will it be running really really badly and sound like its on one clynder?
  5. Im pretty sure i don't, i have checked the timing 3 times now because i really did think it was the timing. Wouldnt i hear alot of piston valve contact if i had it 180 degrees out tho? with the plugs out ofcource?
  6. So to sum it all up, over the past couple of weeks i have slowly done a head re-build and changed all the chain guides. I have now put the whole thing back together and when i went to start it was very lumpy as if it was on only 2 clynders. Obviously i took of the rocker cover again and timed it up again, but still the same problem! Any body have any ideas as to what it could be? Its as if the engine just doesnt want to start, and if it does its totally not firing properly. Thanks in anticipation, rob
  7. Yeah i have don this job recently and you need to take the box, clutch, flywheel and lower cover off and then the tentioner guide will just slip off its a hell of a job for such a simple little piece.
  8. I must have read that thing three times now, but cheers mate, it looks like that is the only way round it im still wondering weither i will have enough room to just lay the box on the floor with it all linked up still tho ?
  9. So im half way through my rebuild and i have kept the engine in the car because i did not have the money to buy an engine stand and i also thought i wouldnt need to be doing too much work, but id finished with my head, new seals, bit of a cleanup n that, and i go to put it all back in and i realised i needed to replace both upper chain gide rails as one had snapped and the other was broken by me My question is, is there and easier was to fit the upper tentioner guide, the one that is on a pivot? I am just about to start to take the box, clutch and fly wheel off so i can get to it Do you recon
  10. Cool cool. its always an option down the line i guess. In the meantime im just collecting together all the hardware for the build
  11. 32 mpg on motorway at 70mph ish and 17-19 round town and back roads aha.
  12. Allthough, realistically, i will start on 6 or 7 psi, but i doubt that will be for more than an hour or so aha
  13. Cheers haywire! I am definitely going to go down the turbo route, and i have just done a quick sum up of my available savings to blow and i have £1200. it seems enough for me, the only problems being the price of the turbo and management. I believe you can purchase them c2 chip's for £250, is that right? But yeah, i will be aiming for 15psi absolute max!! and will be wanting to start on 9-11 psi just to see how the thing drives and weither i may need to invest in some other things before i turn it up. Ive just been down the bank today to cash a couple of cheques, so now the searching and buy
  14. Sharky, what you having of that guy on ed38? what you recon of his turbo for £200, seems cheap to me!
  15. Couldn't agree more sir. As already said' date=' a lot of the parts - if not all of them - are chinese made and to give the seller his dues, he is taking a small margin on them, which partly explains the low cost of the kit. Whilst I'm not against chinese cloned parts, just be mindful of the fact they don't go through the same rigourous testing programs as the genuine parts and aren't made to industry standards, such as German TUV, British Kite mark and so on, which is why they're so cheap. They rely on the parts they are copying to have gone through all that already, and so long as they c
  16. LOL you wanna get a petrol leafblower! there are a couple of vids with a civic trying one. but to be honest most electric "superchargers" actually will restrict the flow of air after a certain rpm
  17. Yeah, i get you. I have been waiting for a pm of some guy about a whole load of turbo stuff on ed38. And buying his stuff i should be paying 500 for his turbo (to4e garret internals .50 coldside), tial wastegate, and manifold.
  18. My exact thinking, "it may be tooooo cheap" but in all fairness, even if the turbo itself is pretty shoddy, the cost to buy all the other parts seperate and also the effort in buying all the other parts may make this a deal.
  19. Well over the past month or so i have been doing endless research on forced induction and i have decided to go down the turbo route. My initial plan was to buy most of it seperately and fabricate a couple of things myself, but today i stumbled across one of these "kits" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-JDM-VW-GOLF-JETTA-CORRADO-VR6-12V-T3-T4-TURBO-KIT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem518f98a027QQitemZ350301495335QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories The price is reasonable i think, although the turbo itself looks pretty cheap, all the other parts i was going to search around for are the
  20. I dont suppose you have a mobile number for him, as i would ideally like it to be looked at tomorrow?
  21. Ok i will get it on vag-com i dont suppose you have had any business with the user "DLea" in knutsford? Im assuming it will be of a fixed charge, am i right?
  22. Cool im assuming this can be sorted with vag-com? i have just found that a guy up the road from me in knutsford who deals with it. Might drop him a pm and see what he can do
