yeh.. i just need to find out which relay is faulty. when you touch/move the fuse box, you can hear a relay clicking on/off.. i need to pull them all out and clean up the contact points or find the loose wire..no major drama.. she runs sweet and i can say there is noticeably more torque than a golf vr6, it pulls harder and the throttle is very responsive. surpirsinlgy confortable car to drive, great driving position and comfortable seats.. brilliant cross country tool..

after 5 long weeks in the paint shop and a near four figure bill.. SHE'S READY!!!!!!! nearly a full re-spray.. to keep within budget, i havent done the front bumper and it still has stone chipping. there is 2 stone chps on the car both on the boot lid and un noticeable.. still a couple of minor odds and ends to do to make it 100% mint- front bumper could do with paint, and the driver wing mirror case has a crack.. and ive still got the fiddly starting issue with the fuse box.. minor niggles aside.. she's done!.. its been along time and ive enjoyed seeing her come back to life. n

its been in the paintshop for over 2 weeks now.. i expect to have it back on tuesday.!

v5 feels really good.. im very surprised, it goes like a stock vr6- minus that bit of top end surge you get at over 6000 in the vr6.. but if you dont drive on the red line everywhere, performance and feel is almost identical, and abit more responsive (though this could be doen to good servicing). its showing 33mpg just now after a reset... we'll see what is getting in a week or so.. but i suspect it going to be more econ than the vr6 in the long run. prices are a joke- what alot of car for little money. i paid 1400 (plus hammer) for mine. a 2002 golf v5 with full history and 100k, immaculate a

fair point, i didn't consider the modding aspect.... however, if modding isnt your thing....

hi folks, recenlty sold our candy white 5dr '96 vr6.. she had been using it as her car for 6months and fancied a change. anyway, i sold it the other night, with the intention of replacing it with either a 4motion or a gttdi.. i hadn't considered a V5.. i stumbled upon a lovely example (2002 5dr silver, immaculate, fsh and 100k).. at the auction, it was cheap.. so i own it.. i have to say im VERY immpresed! this the 170bhp model, performance wise, it almost exactly like a vr6, the engine is very torquey and it has a lovely rasp to the exhaust.. she is delighted, with it. amazing prices on the

suppose i should update this thread.. she lives!! i have keys, registration doc, mot'd for the year.. its a proper viable car again! currenlty in the paint shop to have.. bonnet grille and front bumper painted, couple of dent removed, passenger sill and wing blisters painted... and a full cut buff and machine polish. she will be mint when i get it back- with hopefully not a stone chip lol!! its been a long road, but its basically done- next time i see it, it'll be ready! pics to follow in a few days.. cheers

update.. shes runs!! got the key back on thursday, my RAC pal spent some time with her this morning.. and she lives!! did lots of tests, testing circuits, spark, fuel etc..the reason she would not turn over was not due to the strarter motor at all- it was the wiring under the dashboard, fuse/relay box wiring has a bad connection in one of the relays circuits.. a fiddle around with fuse box- and she turns over and starts fine! amazing- it has been laying for well over a year, 10seconds of turning over and she roared back life. we resolved a missfire from an ill fitting ht lead and all is well!

thanks for that. no further forward today..instead im 1 step backwards- i showed a car to someone yesterday and they disappeared with the corado key! have no idea how the key found its way into his pocket-mustve been amongst keys we were handling.. anyhoo, i'll not get the keys back until tuesday.. (im pissed about that).. so i can do nothing with the car until then.

update.. got a key! i got a key cut and programmed today, but still no joy- car wont start. the immobilisers have been removed, key has been programmed. im told there should be no reson why it shouldnt start- but it wont. he cut and programmed a key, removed an immobiliser the tried to fire her up- she did turn over for a few seconds- then nothing. the starter motor did turn a good strong turns for 3seconds but now it wont go at all (the starter motor) the key man tells me the problem now must be with the starter motor fuse or the motor itself. he had a a lok around the engine bay and pointed

i just put a full milltek system AND a stainless manifold (dont know what make), and a k+n 57i onto a vr6 that had a standard system-with a blow at the cat (lol).. car is totally transformed.. throttle response is slightly improved but the big difference is at over 4000rpm, the power surge is stronger and it pulls harder. sound is among the best ive heard from any car. the milltek makes the engine sound someting like an old 6 cylinder 3series e30 BMW. it is certainly not a deep booming bass noise that'll wake neighbours at midnight at any rpm., it does have a lovely note though, you still know

the key man never came today, but has re-arranged for tomorrow (friday). i fitted a new battery today, hooked it up- we have 148000 miles on the clock. more than i estimated, but thats no worry to me. i got in the boot, found a full set of powerflex bushes-purple and yellow rubber things, all brand new. i suspect the last owner never got round to fitting them. a nice find- maybe i'll put them on my golf. a furhter nosey round the car revealed, bright yellow bilstein coilovers, k+n 57i induction (now on my golf ), new grooved brake discs all round, the exhasut appears to be stainless also. alon

Rust on driver door, repair advice needed.
thesharkfactor replied to sadken's topic in Bodywork and Styling
really- you are best to take it to a painter/bodyshop. a small repiar like that will cost under £100. they will paint the whole panel below the plastic trim. if you DIY it, you'll make an arse of your door with those materials (especially with a metallic{pearl colours. do it right, get it painted.. i sent one of my vr's for paint today- 2 arches, lower fornt wing, rear bumper corner.. will take a couple of days and cost around £200.. noone will ever know it's been done. easy. -
lol.. maybe i will.. guy is coming tomorrow with a new key, today, i picked up a new battery.. here's hoping it goes.. that'll be the real luck..
-

hey guys, my lucky day today-- a few days ago a guy mentioned to me he knew where there was corrado vr6 for sale, in a yard in glasgow, no keys,, not moved in over a year. being a vr6 junkie, i was interested.. i went with him to see it today- in a scrap yard of all places. couldnt belive my eyes- it was a storm!!! mystic blue, no keys, no paperwork, covered in fallout and mildew.. a true DIAMOND in the rough. i hpi checked it- all clear.not stolen or written off. couple of blisters on the body, a couple of small dents- otherwise spot on!! (filthy though, but i can see through dirt)..bbs allo

hi guys, looking for some advice.. ive fitted a set of audi tt competition alloys on my mk3 vr6.. they fit fine and look great- but.. the centre caps will not fit on the rear wheels as the hub in the very centre sticks out slightly. there is a domed cap on the very end of the hub, preventing the centre cap fitting in place.. can this cap be removed? or will there just be a big nut/bolt behind it? i dont want to hammer it off only to still have the same problem.. ive seen many others with these wheels on a mk3 golf centre caps and all!.. so they must go on somehow? thanks for any advice...

i just stripped out a highline interior yesterday, and put it in a std vr6....now got a white vr with mulberry leather (dynamite combo!) anyhow.. i noticed another difference- as anal as it it is- but never mentioned before! door handles (on the interior door cards) on a highline are constructed of 3 peices. a normal vr6 the door handles are 2 piece. why? dunno!.. but they is!.. i left the 3piece ones on the highline- the 2peice ones were in better nik .. (this applies to 4dr- cannot confirm if 2dr is the same!) another minor difference- the highline ive got (95 5dr) has a passenger airbag an

ive been scammed by "dubbers" aka "mr hewitt" on the golfgti forum. i put up a wanted thread last night on 3forums looking for quad lamps for mk3 golf,.. this lowlife txt me saying he had what i wanted- i sent him £70 by bank transfer.. it wasnt until today i looked on the forum and saw he had registered that day! then i saw the big scammer thread about him 4pages of it- hes screwed too many folks for alot of money- he'll be going to jail in a year or so when it all catches up with him.. i have his account detials, sort code, account number, mastercard number.. he banks with royal bank of
