Hey Jim agreed there is a problem with torque and power after 5000rpm. Looking at the graph.
I am looking into a forge 007p diverter valve with green spring, 200 cpi magna flow 2.5in sports cat from 42 draft designs and moving the MAF further away from the inlet side of the charger (again lol)
The one thing that I picked up during the mapping session is that the air filter is surrounded in a plastic protective case which is extremely restrictive so I have moved the filter to the passenger side in the recess behind the bumper next to the carbon canister.
I will go for a adjust map in November so it will be interesting to see the results then and to see if the issue has been resolved.
Another update, I decided to change the VDO boost gauge I got from Tony for a Stack one due to being able to see both positive and negative boost.
Whats interesting is that on idle she is -20 and boost is boost lol but when you drop of the throttle, i feel she dumps the boost too easily. I am aware of boost surge but still I think the VF-Engineering DV spring is so weak.

Cheers Guys, TPS confirm its not the 4 point but 2 point variant, so I will change it tomorrow. I got a plastic clip and o ring.
-
Damn TPS sold me the wrong one. Thanks Guys.
-
I think I have bought the wrong sensor if its the blue one in the pic?
-
Hi all,
Is this easy to change? If so does anyone have instructions?
-
Ah ok thanks Adam, I have compared both dynoplots from united and stealth. I do not want to post comments on the results, I will email the results to United.
Though it is very interesting to see the difference.

The rough idle issue has been solved. I am getting 8 psi boost.I had the tappets changed and the sound has stopped.
I still have a cold start issue but might be resolved with a new engine coolant temperature sensor.
I am not sure on what problem I may still have Jim? Am I missing something?
-
Hey Jim. what do you mean by your problem when driving still exists fella?
I must say the maps are very different.
-
Graphs and data from the mapping session at Stealth.
-
I used a gaffa tape and zip ties lol but the wood sounds like a better idea.
-
Hey RCF, the VR is working fine, having a cold start issue but hopefully this will be sorted with the engine coolant sensor thing.
Only issue I have now is the rear passenger foot weld has water in it and the rear passenger door window has dropped down and the motor will not push it up.
-
Well I the idle is better, I went to Vince at Stealth Racing to sort the tappets and re-map the car and this has made a huge difference.
Confidence is back on top. Fitted the rear strut brace, the MAF is further away from charger and the air filter is in the passenger side of the bumper. Free oil catch can fitted from an old charger setup, cheers Stealth. Oh I dropped the car back to the usual ride height.
So on that note I have got loads of spare parts to sell including to United map which was not really suited to my application in the end.
Oh on the rollers I got 270bhp and 233 lb ft which is a little disappointing tbh but with a move the plastic casing around the filter and sports cat, I am convinced this will make 285bhp + with some additional torque I hope.

Some progress, move the MAF another 2 inches and idling is not really that much better to be honest.
I am still only getting about Max 4.5 psi boost.
So a few more pictures
Oh yes its only taken me 3 months to get the sticker made but "vag whore" is missing from the bottom right corner.
Took a leaf out of Tony and Pauls book an created some customer pipework with bits and bobs.
Its only taken me 5 months to wrap this, what a pain in the a** but well worth it, as I am about to sell them :-(
I also had to raise the car up around 15mm for the temp hash for the induction kit. Once I got more pennies I will get a BMC and put this under the passenger wing with the MAF and will run the pipework behind the front splitter.

The mad genius at work!!

I took her out yestereday evening for a good drive and she idles better.
I did notice that on the down change alot of burble and the acceleration is not smooth, around 3500rpm when the engine comes onto positive boost the car suddenly pulls funny, like a turbo.
Hard to explain is if the power is not completely there and then suddenly just is. Does not feel right?
Checked the MAF wiring and is wired correctly, not contact issues.
Vag.com is clean, no errors. Engine sounds better excluding the tappets noise.
I will move the MAF and parts to the passenger side.

Daverse, not sure need to think about pricing etc... Will PM you once I put it on the sales board? Are you looking for a compression plate as well?
-
this seems like Deja vue some how. Did Tony hear the rattle??? I forget...
Unfortunately not as Tony and I agreed to get the top stripped off, to reduce time.
-
All us FI boys had teething problems Martin.....mine was off road for about 10 days with a mystery problem that I sorted out with many many calls to Tony.
Stick at it......its all worth it when you floor it and leave expensive machinery behind
Might leave some R32T behind Craig!!!!

One daft thing and I am sure the answer is yes...
but as you changed cams etc did you do an oil change after the install...? (queitly... shhh... and checked the levels)
I did indeed.
-
I removed the rocker cover lined up the bottom end on the TDC and did not see the same slack as before, without the cam locking plate it looked fine. Actually everything looked fine but i'm no mechanic.
-
There are a few parts I need to sell as money is so tight, so they will go on the forum this weekend.
6 branch
O2A gearbox
Green stuff pads
Compression plate
And some other bits.
-
Mate don't break it up ill be honest there's a few bits on your list id like but i think we would rather have the vr sorted if possible than take your vr to bits' date=' im nae much help being new to the vr scene but im sure there plenty of guys on here with shed loads of advice to sort your motor out ;-)
[/quote']
Cheers fella. I a few more bits to check and then I am out of money.
As you have mentioned there are quite a few guys on here that have been awesome with advise, help, guidance etc...The forum is excellent.
-
Don't cams take a little while to bed in' date=' have you tried engine flush that could help with noisy lifters sometimes?
[/quote']
Never used engine flush before, i guess its quite simple?

New stack gauge fitted before going to work. Looks good compared to the picture.
