Golf VR6 Brake help (ATE I'm pretty sure)
v_dubberoon replied to Wilsonp83's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
i had a similar problem getting the wheel off an old vento, soaked it with WD40 for ages, wacked it, hit it, even got to the stage of just letting the car drop onto the un bolted wheel but to no avail.........took nearly 2 days to smack the bugger off due to it being sat in a damp mill for a year.......good luck tho. like ppl say, persuade it with a hammer. Using a block of wood seemed to help direct the force in useful angles -
hi all, ive searched and searched pages of tranny info then something occurred to me. Ive got a mk3 gti 8v engine sat at home, ive read they have a 3.6 final drive and a 0.71 5th gear. Can i use the final drive out the 8v in my vr and would the 5th gear fit to reduce rpm on the motorway??? any info would be great. Ive searched so much and haven't quiet found ananswer to my question. cheers all

hi Ive read variouse other threads abouts exhausts and i understand the need for back pressure etc as well as the seemingly different effects you get by removing certain restrictive elements of the system. My vento's not quiet on the road yet but i noticed when checking for exhaust leaks the back box WASN'T actually attatched to the next square silencer as it had totally rotted away, i removed the end can then removed the next straight cylindrical silencer noticing the end of thatt was rotten too. Im presuming the CAT is the first "restrictor" working from the manifold end ? point of this is i

don't mean to sound daft, ive come from the carb mini world so im still gettin to grips with ECU's. What is the difference between a re-map and having it chipped ? ive currently got induction kit and de-cat, pretty soon ill be gettin a cat back stainless system if this effects my chipping/re-mapping choices ? -
hi, im wanting a remap now Ive got my induction kit n de-cat fitted, does any body have any good recommendations around west yorkshire / yorkshire / lancashire area ? ive heard good things of stealth racing but they're a fair trek away, some one closer would be great. also what power gains would i be likely to see ? is it even worth doin if ive only got a induction kit n de-cat ? im after an exhaust soon aswell would i be best remapping it after ive had the exhaust fitted ? any advice would be great guys
