Could be a c.v joint, I had what sounds like this last year, was a pain in the rectum. When it was replaced the whole joint had snapped off! And there was me flooring it down the motorway only the day before! Makes you think!

Hi, Was going down the local duel carriageway .I went to change gear and there was nothing, got to the lights to turn right again I went to engage first, nothing!! You can hear what sounds like the clutch plates rubbing together when I lift the clutch. Anyhow, got towed home by a pal. Any ideas anyone, seeing as my mechanical skills go as about as far as turning a key to start the engine! Cheers Tel
