  1. i,ve got a supercharged vr6 in my mk2 golf and up til now i,ve been running a early mk2 16v pump but its on its way out as it keeps making strange noises, anyway i wanted to just replace it and looked at the haynes manual and it says that an early (87) pump is the one to go for as its 5 bar ,does anybody know where is the best place to get one or if there is an alternative, its the pump thats under the car and not the one in the tank by the way thanks
  2. it was a faulty sender but i,m still going to need to cover the cooler as the oil temp is staying around 75 deg
  3. i,ve had the temp sender in and out a few times so i may have knacked it ,when i get a new one we,ll see if the stat is working or not
  4. any advice then? i,ve ordered a new temp sender from vw just in case mine has went faulty it,ll be in on wednesday so i,ll see what happens then
  5. yes i,ll be tracking it , i,ve also supercharged it, i spent the extra so i would not have to cover it up in winter , its a pain in the ass as it was extra £40 i think its a mocal too so you,d think it would be good stuff
  6. its a 13v row cooler theres no heat exchanger , apparantly the stat is set at 80 deg , is there any way i can check its working ok ,and not just a faulty sender for the mfa?
  7. stealth mate ask for vince ,done me a chip and it sorted my problems with one phone call, plus he takes time to find out what you,ve done and what your looking for from your motor ,well recommended
  8. it will sort itself out after driving for a while i,m led to believe mate
  9. i,ve got the right parts for it now , i,d done about 20 miles and the temp still won,t come up. the reason i bought one with a stat was to cure the problem with it over cooling the oil
  10. i,ve just fitted a mocal oil cooler and stat the thing is my oil tempreture gauge is not coming up past 60 even when giving it a thrashing, i understood that the oilcooler won,t start cooling the oil til it hits around 90 and that was the reason i bought one with a stat ,any ideas guys? the stat is the mocal type as well, could i have plumbed it wrong? it looks ok to me and the stat seems to be only able to be fitted one way ie the side with the gasket to the block and the cap on the side without the gasket
  11. tps wires sequence anybody? checked the bentleys manual but no clues there
  12. just cleaned it yesterday, i,ll leave it a few days and see what happens
  13. could a lambda sensor cause this as well,i,m getting desperate , i don,t want to start flinging cash at it buying sensors and i don,t have access to vagcom
  14. na stupidly thought it would be ok ,any clues on the sequence of the wires to the tps, i rekon i might have got water in it cos when i unplug it the fault goes away(nearly) i,ve also had the cover off the roker cover and cleaned and sprayed the coil connections with wd40 but to be honest they were dry
  15. i,ve dryed all the connectors and sprayed them with wd40 ,its doin my head in ,i was just wondering if dampness in the throttle position sensor could cause these problems
  16. i jet washed the engine bay and now its running like a bag of bolts, its dumping straight fuel into the engine , i,ve taken off all connections and wd 40,d them and blew out any water with an air line , when i remove my tps connectiion it gets better ,when i put it back on it won,t idle , also does anybody know the colour of the tps wires from rear of the car to front on the connector cos mine was crap and i cut it off and put krimps on it instead its just incase i,ve mixed the wires up, i might add thayt at full throttle its not bad but i can feel it retarding the timing any advice please
  17. i,ve probably already asked this question but i can,t remember the answer so , what plugs do you guys with 8 psi of boost use? i,m running standard ngk,s at the moment and they seem ok but if theres something better i,ll give them a bash
  18. well that makes sense ,i havnt got that bit all i,ve got is a plastic cap instaed of a alloy one , also i,ve had a look at others and they seem to have a bit of rod thats threaded externally to screw into the block and threaded internally so you an screw the cap bolt back into it
  19. heres a pic of both sides of the stat and the new fully threaded mushroom bolt on the lhs and the old one on the right
  20. the kit came with a new mushroom as you call it and the threaded bit was already attatched, its too long and too thin , i might add the mushroom i took off was alloy and the new one is plastic
  21. that is the new cap that came with it, the new tube has only got holes at the very top whereas the origional one has holes down the side
