  1. Best thing to do is either ask one of the mods if you can have the list, I cant for the life of me find it now, or start a new thread with the title something like "Vag-Com member in East London area". There was a list somewhere on this forum with all the members willing to help others with their Vag-Com but I'll be damned if I can find it anywhere, sorry. I have it but I am out the otherside of London to you so quite a trek for you unless you dont mind.
  2. Just a small tip, check the classifieds on here as the people on here tend to look after their cars plus someone else on here will probably know them and you dont tend to sell a dodgy car under false pretenses when you know it can come back and bite you in the A!?*
  3. Get it plugged into Vag-Com, you may have a sensor down or something. Plus costs nothing.
  4. Hey Black, There is a list on here of owners that have Vag-Com and are happy to help out those that dont. Search the forums for it or ask one of the mods you can find someone near you and ask them?
  5. sounds like load issues on either the plugs, leads or coil pack as said above, I think it will probably just be coincidence to be honest. But 5 litres?? Mate how did it get that low?
  6. body shops are notorious for ripping people off, my mate in is the game and is always telling me stories of them over chargin people by a stupid amount so I always use him. Sometimes if he is rushed then the job isnt top notch but I just take it back to him and let him know, after that I get it back looking like it has come from the factory. The problem with prep work is that it is THE MOST important part of the job, if it isnt done right then some of the imperfections can/will show through, the paint wont key in and flake of a few months down the line etc etc so a lot of people usually go ove
  7. I think this is a story known by serious lookers the world over, I spent about 8 months looking for a 'Good Condition' VR6, time and again I would turn up and the car would smell damp and musty, matrix leak and not fixed properly, sunroofs stuck open/closed, rust all over the place, mileage 100,000 miles out compared to the description (because I wouldnt notice when I went to look at the car) not running right, slow, uneconomical etc etc etc... It takes a while to find a decent car, in the end I found one in the autotrader but as it turned out it was being sold on here too, the exterior wasnt
  8. Blondie i love you!!! A girl that knows what she is talking about when it comes to cars!!!
  9. To be honest, there isnt much that you can do to 'tune' the car, unless the timing is out by a silly amount then the car takes care of itself, an air filter change, oil/oil filter change, plugs and leads the rest is run off of sensors dotted around the car, the ECU takes car of most of it unless something/one of the sensors plays silly buggers and sends out the wrong signals. Unless you are talking about getting it remapped?
  10. ps the problem with the above setup is that it cost me just over £500 but I would rather pay that then pay a lot less and get a much lesser quality product if you know what I mean?
  11. Best setup is Eibach Springs with Koni top adjustable shocks, 'in my humble opinion', VW's seem to have benfitted from this setup the most for quite a while now, got the exact same thing on mine, only dropped it by 30mm as I wanted to be able to go over speed bumps without worrying about it and the ride is lovely, nice and stable, handles well in corners and the speed bumps are not an issue at all. You can adjust the softness/ride to suit, and there is quite a big difference in the different settings, I usually adjust it if I am taking more people in the car to make it slightly harder, not muc
  12. As you look at the engine from the front of the car, where you have your Coil pack/Distributor the sensor is on the side of the head screwed in with 2 allen key bolts and a single connecting clip going to it. I can get a picture of it for you tonight and upload it if that helps?
  13. I would check out the camshaft position sensor myself, try and swap it for a known working one.

Yeah they can hit you fairly hard. In all seriousness, whatever they are, hope they get sorted soon. Just been through a rough spot myself, feel so much better coming out the other side though... there is light at the end of the tunnel...

LOL, this thread made my morning.... One thing is for sure, this forum is the most relaxed, welcoming, friendly forums I had ever had the pleasure of belonging to.
  18. Ok here goes The window mech in place in the door, the part that usually breaks has been circled The area circled is the window winder mechanism with the window actually in the holder as it should be. This next image is of the two parts that make up the window winder mechanism, apart from the motor. The part on the left flips over and locates on the rail, I have circled the two parts that interlock, the bracket (that usually breaks) and the nut on the steel cable/wire. This last pic is of the actual part that breaks but close up. Hope this helps, if you need more pics let me know, I have a
  19. give me a couple of mins matey, just uploading them now. Your problem is a broken piece of plastic the sits snuggly around a metal nut situated on the steal cable, one side usually breaks off hence the motor winding it down but not up as when you try to wind it back up the nut pushes straight past the bracket hence the window does not go up but leaving it free to be slid straight up by hand
  20. sorry all the lack of pics was my fault, I have them but family issues prevented me from getting them posted
  21. I would instantly say that this has something to do with airflow, without looking at it. If your car started having these issues ONLY after you fitted the new manifold then that would have to be what has caused it. Does it need to be mapped to take into account the new mani?
  22. plus they have nasty NASTY interiors to say the least
  23. oh thats not good at all, poor bloke.
