Well had the rad fitted on Friday.

what a relief not having to constantly having to check the coolant level.

have done about 300 miles mostly motorway with some back roads in Cumbria including racing a TDI until the gf shouted for me to stop

Well to the point £130 alll in and it's the best £130 I ever spent on a car.

Just the ABS to diagnose now oh yeah and the Chains to change next weekend.

And my local garage will fit it for £35/hour plus vat so its tempting

Went to price up a rad change at my local garage and they have suggested Wynn's "Cooling system stop leak".

They swear by it and say it doesn't clog the system.

I'm not sure about this but may try it on my 306 with a leaking rad first.

Just wondered if anyone had used the stuff

Or alternatively anyone got a spare rad or know what price I can expect to pay for one.

Discovered at lunch a little get of water coming from behind the top of the fan housing.

Now worried I have a small leak on the rad.

Hi there have a leak from what looks like the thermostat on the rad (On the right as i look in the bonnet).

Is this the common leak ive read about and what normally needs replacing Im hoping to get the bits before I start the job.

Sad question but since im going to do the chains and thought Id see about putting cams in while I'm in the engine.

Do they make a huge difference to MPG.

I can cope with the current MPG but if it got a lot less I couldn't afford to run the car.

Think I'll get the chains from GSF and have to get the rest from VW.

The bloke I spoke to had a check and I rang him back and they only do the chains.

Anyone on here know any different

I tried the codes on the gsf website and they return as not found but I didnt try giving them to the bloke on the phone

Going to do the chains soon and have been told the easiest way to do this is to take the engine out.

How long is it to take the engine out.

Have access to a ramp and decent tool kit so should be no problems.

Well new blades have made a huge difference but I still get a little bit of lift occasionally so it may be the spring as well. Any idea if you can just get the spring anywhere?

Is this a fault with the golf design or do I just have knackered wiper blades.

I used to get this on a CRX where the wind flow was too much for the blades above about 70 but that car had a much more angled screen.

Before someone asks I have a wiper with a spoiler on it.
