    Hi everyone i recently picked up a MK3 VR and when driving it home in the dark no dash lights would come on. So ive checked the fuses (is it the same one that controls the interior light and clock?) and now just recently replaced the headlight switch but to no avail. Anybody got any ideas? Cheers Jay

    Not sure if it was on ebay got it through piston heads tho. Yea i replaced the interior had the cloth in when i bought it but drivers seat looked like someone had let 1000 cats sharpen their claws on it. Quite unusual colour more of a biscuit colour than cream but like you say nice to see a VR with a lighter coloured interior.

    Hi all i sold my B4 passat couple of weeks ago. I actually straight swapped it for this MK3 VR6. Everyone knows i have a weak spot for VR's Details: 1996 MK3 golf 2.8 VR6 OBDII Full electrics ABS Twin airbag with lower glovebox Power steering Cat 1 alarm K&N filter S/S exhaust 104k FSH De-arched and no bodykit Boot frenched and smoothed Front and rear bumper smoothed Black roof and bonnet Full cream heated leather Camo style headlining. Used to hate mk3's with a passion but now after driving one i really do quite like them. Really solid car and such a nice drive with the VR up front. S

    Yea been through a few tunnels in the VR doin 30 in 2nd then floorin it! what a sound!

    We have a meet up at bassetts pole last thurs of every month! next one is the 28th of aug! Everyone is welcome would be nice to see some VR's up there as mine is off the road and i miss the sound! Have to make do with a BM 325 now :-(

    Yea true but i was posting up my 24v build up at the time thats why i said it! No harm done lol. Yea mike did consider the R32 nearly bought one when i had this but i keep seeing R32's in mk2's now so fancied something different. People say there is a noise difference but will see as im gonna be running the same exhaust de cat and induction kit so i can give you a proper assesment!

    Hi mate i had this when i had to replace my coil spring on the front. is it lowered? check your top mounts on your susp and the bolt underneath the suspension cap (look under the bonnet at the susp. turret undo the bolt and take of the metal cap and check the tightness of the bolt thats on the damper thread you may need a pair of snipe nose pliers!) hope this helps stopped mine doing it! Also check if your coil spring is fractured it did on mine and thats when it started to pull!

    cheers for the help just wondering if normal paint would be able to cope with the heat? i would use plastic primer and plastisiser in the paint then a laquer would this be ok? cheers

    Hi all just wondering if i can use normal paint to colour code my engine cover? It is already done but its flaking off and the "VR6 DOHC" bit is still textured and i want it smooth. Any help appreciated jay

    Hi guys just a quick update finally got round to finding me a decent interior been looking for some leather seats for ages then found these! Out of a corrado same as my cloth interior but looks a lot better in my opinion!     The clutch pedal in my car is extremly hard to push down i had a sit in a mk3 VR and nearly put the clutch pedal through the floor it was so light! Any ideas? the car is a mk2 VR6 with a hydraulic clutch cheers

    Nah it de-catted! Im thinkin it may be the coil pack as i read a post just which sort of had the same symptons! cheers anyway!

    Nah its a OBDll lump as it has a coilpack rather than a dizzy! Plus the lump is out of a 98 plate golf. cheers for all the comments!

    Today i was driving down my private racing track called the A5 and was doing a reasonable 100m.p.h in fourth but as i put my foot down and got it to 5000rpm it just stopped and wouldnt go over that it felt as if some of the cylinders stopped firing! Ive had it serviced ie new plugs, leads, oil and filter and so on just wondering if anyone had any ideas? cheers

    lol! nah its the trusty old foot pump as the rear tyre kept going down! Not entirely sure of the difference of performance between MK2 and MK3 as i never been in a MK3 VR6! Im sure someone will say which is quickest

    Hi there im a newbie to this site so thought id post a few pics of my MK2 VR6 up! Pretty much standard engine wise being a 12v OBDll lump with powerflow exhaust and de cat and a induction kit! Inside i tried to keep the interior standardish its got the seats out of a corrado which are really comfy and thats about it! Originally it was a 1.8 8v gti.
