Hi All, Well after some time away from the Dub scene i decided to give it a try again. Had a passat VR6 before that was a bit of a shed, have now just got a mulberry highline again needs some work but it was cheap and seems to run nicely and everything bar the air-con works. Not fussed about air-con up in Aberdeen not really needed. I will goto kwik fit and get them to do there test to see if its just needing a re-gas probably not but worth a shot, and they dont charge if they cant sort it. Well will let you know how it goes, another one is that its currently got the wrong tyre size fitte

I have just spoken to the current owner and he has said that the coilpack is cracked. Now this will probably cause the syptoms i described before wherby it is very spluttery and seems to be lumpy under throttle? Also he has said that if you throttle the car it is missing again this could be the cause. Also he tells me that it sometimes clears and runs fine! Whats your thoughts? I am going to go and take a look tommorow already seen the car and it looks ok apart from the front suspension has been dropped looks really low. I will take along my vag-com lead and see what it shows. The car is

Thanks for replies! What do you think the Idle problem is down to? So if it is OBD1 then the timing chain may be issue? Cheers Mark

Hi All, Well i had moved to the dark side and have owned a vectra sri for the last 10months, but am now going back to VW. I have a possible purchase of a 1995 M reg Vr6 with 112000 miles. Serivce upto 70K and rest looked after by the owner. Problem seemingly the car is not idleing correctly! When i had the old golf which were 8v and 16v mk2's and mk3's it used to have a problem with the Idle stabilisation valve are the Vr6's the same? Also do you reckon it is just a clean of the manifold? Also when i go to look at it should i take my Vagcom lead and try and see what it shows? Can you tell

Mine is also hesitating when you give a lot of throttle in 2nd gear could this also be down to leads. Seems that the plugs are nice and lean and the leads are those blue magnecor ones which i thought were supposed to be good. You say cam sensor cleaning whats that about and how do you do it? Thanks Mark

have found the port. Its to the left hand side of steering wheel, you have to move the steering height adjuster and remove the trim and hey presto ther it is a obd connector. Excellent Cheers Mark

Cheers, Have managed to get a couple of seals from local VW garage only a couple of quid. One last question how tight should the 24mm nut/bolt be? Many thanks Mark

Had the fuse box cover all off and can see a few different connections there one is blue one brown there is a white one and a black one but black has a blank plugged into!! Also the white and black connections are far apart is this the ones??? also they only have one wire into each does this sound like them?? Thanks Mark

Well have just done an oil change and on refilling it is coming from the oil cooler as i cleaned it all up and ran the engine and you can watch it come from the bottom section above what i am imagining is the oil level switch which is beside this. Do you just have to undo the 24mm socket at the end of the oil cooler for it to come off?? is there an O'ring here thats likly to have gone?? Just a bummer that i have just done the oil change as well!! Thanks Mark

Thanks for the reponses, Had a squeeze under the car and a quick look and the oil appears to be comming from higher up above the oil filter sort of location and simply dripping down so do you reckon its still the crankshaft oil seal?? Clutch at present feels spot and it dosent look like its a new leak, looks to have been like this for a while. Thanks again Mark

Hi, Have recently purchased a 1994 VR6 Passat with 98K on it and FSH, and there appears to be a small engine oil leak as i noticed it on the garage floor. Now i think its engine oil as over the last 300 miles it has gone down ever so slightly. It is dripping off the plate between engine and gearbox. Can you tell me what are the normal oil leak points as i cant easily get under the car. Also the steering seems to judder at standstill if you move the wheel, fluid level is normal. It happens if you move the steering wheel ever so slightly any ideas?? Thanks Mark

Hi, Have done a search and read all the diagnostic port locations, but cannot for the life of me find the port on my 1994 passat vr6 can someone point me in the right direction please. I have had the stereo out and all the switches below but there is no sign of the OBD or the white and black connectors so is there any other place. Have also checked all round the ashtray location and nothing. Many Thanks

Problem solved, Was the wee bar from the pump in the door to the lock it had come off! Tricky bugger but got it in the end. New problem Rear drivers side leccy window is very slow. Is this the motor or is it lack of use what is common on these. If there is a fix please let me know. Thanks MArk

Which one of the bently manuals covers the 1994 vr6 passat anyone any idea? Thanks -
Just a thought that this would effect the ecu control settings for engine temp. its just a thought probably rubbish im talking Many thanks Mark
-
Many thanks for the info. so Eat This is there a couple of different types of thermostat, as mine seems to be the same as yours. Why did you change yours to a lower value? does it not effect the ecu? Thanks
-
What is the normal operating temp for my gauge is 80 too low? sits at this constantly and goes upto about 95 in traffic until fan kicks in. Is this normal or is the thermostat going?? Thanks

Have a 1994 passat vr6 and am concerned about the steering. If you are idle with engine running and you move the steering wheel the steering wheel will move slightly from left to right by itself any ideas what could cause this? It will continually do it back and forth without applying any pressure. Also you can sometimes feel something when driving?? Any thoughts Thanks

No its just the central locking. From the drivers door i can lock / unlock all the doors apart from the passenger front door? From the passenger door i can lock unlock all the doors, but if i lock from the passenger door and try to open with the key on the drivers door nothing happens its very strange??? Also if you try to open and close the windows with either of the front locks strange things happen like the driver window operates but none of the rest whilst all windows work ok from buttons any ideas??? Many thanks for any thoughts Mark

Hi All, First post and not sure if this is the correct location for the post but here goes. Just bought a 1994 passat VR6 well impressed so far, have a problem that the car will not lock from the drivers door. The barrel turns but does not open the doors. Works ok from the passenger side, so what could be the problem? Also car only has two normal keys i imagine one has gone missing through the years does anyone know if it is possible to get another remote key made? Thanks Mark
