Quick update since Ive been back from holiday. Rotrex brackets are both made and tensioner is now on. Spent the weekend pulling the dash out to remove the accelerator pedal! What a joke of a job!
-
I have to say that I picked up a new copy for £15 delivered though.
-
Nice numbers, especially Jake! A bit more boost and you should see nearly 500hp!
-
Thats where the extra ponies come in. Economy with standard engine is ok in 5th anyway so wouldn't bother. A diesel 5th will only offset the additional thirst of increased performance.
-
Custom length. Driveshaft shop in the US sell them already made up though.
-
Only the inner CVs.

Take the piping off from the charger to throttle and give a good look over. Just make sure everything is tightened up when you re-assemble it. You can use a solution of fairy liquid whilst the engine is running but its pretty crude and avoid getting it on the electrics and belts.
The next thing I would try is slacken the belt off and check each pulley for play. When I had my Vortech on I went through a water pump and an alternator, causing a loss in boost.
-
Where is the boost reading being taken from? Have you checked for boost leaks between throttle and charger? How old is the belt and is tight enough?
-
Your mileage maybe more of a factor mate.
-
Im pretty sure you can just run it without the prop connected as John said.
-
Ive got my O2M already but Im not going to fit it until Ive collected a few more bits so I can go 4wd.
-
O2M is the way forward.
-
Running in should always be done with 10w40 mineral cheap shite as above. Seeing as the engine is still nice and tight I dont see why you shouldnt be able to use 5w40 fully.
-
Depends on how you make the power. Storm run 600+hp and maybe 450+lbft on a standard box and a Rotrex. I will do the same until I break it!

So the rotrex isn't a straight bolt on job?
I'm basically asking as I have a smoothed bay which has plated chassis legs so i'm a bit worried about clearance..
R32 pics would be even better as I plan to go for a R32 lump after i've shown the current vr6..
While on the topic' date=' if I go for the rotrex on my current 3.0 VR, will I be able to fit to the R32 lump at a later stage?
Cheers and thanks for the help

Its not quite bolt on but it is fairly simple. Charger mounts are very different for R32 and 12v. There is nothing stopping you from mounting both below the alternator. Its a fairly simple mount, will help if you are good with metal fabrication at this point though. Storm can supply a blank mount. Chassis legs require no modification only the lower front brace as I said above.
There is little difference between my 3.6 mount and a 3.2 mount as I am using an R32 auxillary bracket, alternator and water pump. The only difference is Im using a C38 charger so its slightly larger.
Are you running 83.5mm pistons to get your 3 litres? I probably wouldn't go mad with the boost if you are.
I was doing a group buy on Rotrex kits but there has been too little interest.

This is how mine is done. You need to chop approx 7"s out of the front cross member and re-inforce appropriately. Ive also dropped it down 25mm and raised the engine at the front the same.
If you run a C30 it may not be as extreme. There is 10mm clearance on mine so you will need solid mounts! The radiator needs moving over 4-5"s also, especially if you intend to run the charger outlet straight out the front and into the I/C. Its alot of work on a MK3.
I dont have any pics yet but give me a week or so!

When its tacky.

Just one thing about the ARPs, if they are new torque them up 3 or 4 times and undo them each time. In the end I was doing mine upto 85.
-
Just got back from Holiday today mate, but I will be cracking on with the fuel rail etc.
-
Where are you guys getting 3.0 and 3.1 litre engines from?
-
Nice numbers Stu!
A little off topic I know but do you know how much your car weighs?

Where did you get the map done Ben? Nice numbers by the way!

Guys if this was practical people like Bill Schimmel would be selling a kit.

Its a bigger blower too. The mk2 front brace is much more accommodating than the mk3 one. Jakes outlet exits towards the front directly into the intercooler, whereas I am going over the chassis leg and round.
