    today my car seemed to b running sweet as a nut and the idle problem has seemed to dissapear, but i pulled up to the lights and a polo g40 i think they are called pulled along side and i thought, ok lets see what this baby can do as i aint really gave it some yet. as the lights turned amber, just as i thought the polo went for it and i nailed it, but i must have been a bit heavy on the accelerator coz im still getting used to the biting point but it span up big time, i changed to second, still span up and same with third, it was peeling out like a bitch lol. had to drop it to fourth just to

    ok i picked up my vr this morning and drove it all the way back from kings lynn with no problem, took it into town to get some tax put on it, still no sign of any problems. Then! i come back to the car go to start it up and it starts up fine but as soon as i lift off the accelerator the revs drop, battery light comes on and it died on me 2 or 3 times. i presumed it was a problem with the choke so i started it up and kept the revs up for about 30 secs and lifted off and it sat idling but at about 1100 rpm and did so all the way home. plz help any1 got an idea what this can be? :@

    well where to start?? im normally finnished by about 2 am so i can either go to sleep till 7 am (hometime) or surf the net, even when i do work its never all that much sometimes if we finnish b4 midnight i can go to our companies sports and social club and have a few beers knowing im earning more than im spending 8) [ Edited Thu Jan 20 2005, 03:54PM ]

    ok just got in touch with vw and when i told em the reg it didnt bring up anything!! i started to woryy but after i told her the chassis number she confirmed what it was and told me it had a private plate on it at some point (phew) ok on thier system its showing it has 3 services carried out by them in 98 2000 and 2002. and the milege on the car ties in with what they have their system so thats looking ok, now i just need to find out whos serviced it from 2002 but all isnt as bad as i had thought

    i intend to keep the car for a while yes, and the history id like to have but like i said the condition of the car overall is 1 of the best ive seen out of all the 1s i took a look at. [ Edited Thu Jan 20 2005, 12:05PM ]

    well the mileage id say is genuine coz i looked at the old m'o't's . should there b a vw booklet where it gets stamped when its serviced etc ?

    ok the car im due to pick up on saturday.. the ad said it had service history but it didnt dawn on me till just today that i didnt actually see it while i was up there. i gave him a ring and he told me it has it but he cant actually find it but he will keep looking for me. the engine ran spot on and i did the usual checks and it seemed like it had been well looked after but im not sure what i should do if he cant find it. im gonna get the engine looked at properly once i get it but whats all yr views on this? steve t
