they both look like lovely dubs rob.....very nice indeed......i noticed you said on another thread your running 280's on the mk2......how do you find them compared to the 256's as i'm thinking of going down the same route myself
didn't have 256, had 239 as it's an 8v, and the difference is absolutley unbelievable, there is no comparison, you can stop very quickly and safely at any speed,
loads better than than the vr's probably due to the extra weight in the vr,
the worrying thing is if something behind you hasn't got the same stopping ability,
if you do it change the master cylinder as when i first did it the pedal was nearly on the floor so put a 22mm on and all was well,
-
dunno if it'll work, just guessing really!
-
mine stays on all the time, i just turned it of and live with it !
-
can you not turn the alarm to valet mode to test it ?
-
they both look really clean and tidy! but the question is which 1 do u prefer to drive!!
i really only drive the vr6, was supposed to be selling the gti that day so took it for a short 'blast' !
not as good from the rear unfortunately, has rotted aroud the rear panel rather bad
-
both look very tidy mate - you can beat borbet c's - classic wheels!
like the colour of the mk2 8)
edit: if thats you in the mk2 - you could have smiled
yes thats me, didn't realise my son had already taken the pic and was watching for something to come screaming round the corner
-
managed to get a pic of them both together and not on the drive,

middle of front bumper to floor = 5"
middle of rear bumper to floor = 12"
standard vr 93... hope this helps

yeah, like i've said in my original post on another forum i was debating wether to break it or try to sell it, how much in parts ect, actually said the shell was rotten round the lights, he then trys to make out i've misled him by describing it as surface rust...never did i say surface rust.
is there actually a rust scale like 1 is gentle bubbling to 10 is erm... hole!
still really p1ssed off that he's making me out to be a liar,
still glad he never bought it though,
-
but to get someone to drive you 400 miles ! i sent him plenty of photos and explained it was knackered round the lights,he did ask at one point if i would take the lights off at one point but i just couldn't be arsed, and not to phone or tell me while they were there was just rude,
as for trying to sell it, that's it now if we don't even drive it again i can't be arsed!
-
if you check the polo forum there is probably someone laughing and generally taking the p1ss cos they whooped a vr6 at the lights!
-
yeah i think so, i pm'd him(not on here,) he said there was to much surface rust...cheeky tw@t, the whole reason really for selling apart from not using it was that the rear panel was shagged, i think he had me on a technicality..i said rust instead of hole in an e-mail...but i have definately said in 1 that it had a hole...
-
do they really have too much time on their hands,
last week in a moment of madness agreed to sell the mk2 gti for £800, apart from the usual rusty rear lights there isn't a mark on it,
it's got 280 brakes, gti p/plate, leather, borbet c alloys,117k all mots ect, i sent him loads of pics so he would have a good idea of what the car was like, anyway he said he was coming to see it, he was in coventry i'm in the north east! he turned up in the dark it was pissing down and was freezing, literaly, they poked round the car trying to find fault, asked what i was prepared to sell the car for, wasn't prepared to drop much as i can break it for the same...they took it up the road about 2 miles and then left to decide saying they would let me know... nothing, not a phone call, text,pm.
just trying to work out why someone would travel 400 miles(return) to see a car that i had described as presisely as i could even down to a tiny dent in the bonnet you can't even see unless it's pointed out!
anyway after this we are quite glad not to have to sell it because we are just too attached to it! would rather not drive it and leave it on the drive, we were only selling because we don't need it,
just trying to work out what was going on...anyone?
i still think they thought it was going to be crap and they were going to get it for nowt...

-
he did my brakes once, needed a master cylinder changing and bleeding through....were exactly the same when i brought it home.....ended up buying a bleed kit and doing it myself
-

how much of the tow bracket is visible when the ball is removed? &| (eh, does that make sense!)

~ just phoned them seems that even the detatchable ones need the bumper cutting, :?
looks like i'm gonna have to get another bumper then
-
-
bummer........thought i might get away without having to get another bumper when i have to fit towbar, have to cut a 50mm square from the black trim,
any ideas? was going to try to do similar to the tow eye cover thing and make a removable piece in the trim, not intending to leave the towbar on permanently
