    I have just weighed my VR on the works weighbridge. It had 1/4 tank of fuel in her and the usual crap in the boot. The weight was...................... 1180KG! I thought that was very light for a VR. My car has no air con though so this will help. Before you ask the weighbride is very accurate as our customers get charged on its value. It goes up in steps of 20kg. Scott

    Im thinking of buying a de cat pipe for my 96 VR6. Few questions to the guys in the know:- Are these any good? Any decent gains to be had by fitting one? Will I have to reset the ECU? Where and what price to pay? Thanks Scott

    The symptoms on my VR6 are the water temp needle will get upto half way when in traffic, on the open rd it will only go upto 1/4 of the way up the guage. Oil temp will not go above 85 degC Water should sit at 90 all day long when warmed up and oil between 94-104 depending on how you drive.

    After braking my Pug 205TD work hack im thinking of wiping the slate clean and getting anothe Golf. I need a turbo diesel as I have 80 mile round trip to work. So I would prefer a mark 2 GTD but these are very rare, how do the mark 3 TDi's drive? What kind of milage can they do? What kind of price should I pay? I dont want a mint example but it has to be reliable and relativly clean. All coments welcome Scott

    After spending much cash on a new coil pack for my VR6 its running nice. Apart from the coolant and oil temp is not getting up to running temp. Looking back on previous posts its seems the thermostat is faulty. Im going to get one of these soon but where should I get it from eithe VW or GSF (can you recomend me any more places)? Does anyone know the aprox cost of the thermostat? Also are there any guides on changing these on the Net? I have changed one on a 205 but never the VR. Thnaks Scott [ Edited ]

    Well I would like a peformance increase, but I would also make my VR sound better, does the BMC CDA do this? Are they a pain to fit? Scott

    What milage are our engines good for if cared for? I bet the yanks have done some mega milages would like to know some figures Does the VR6 engine loose performance with age or does it just get better? Scott

    UPDATE! The company got the leads in but it was not the problem. The problems was the distributer box needed changing, more expense its done now though. Thanks for all your help!

    I have been looking for a haynes manual and found out they do not do one for the VR6, so what do you lot use or are you all trained VW techies? Scott

    UPDATE!! I have been messed around by this company about getting my HT leads in, so I will source my own, what are your thoughts on GSF car parts? Also I will need the tool to remove the HT leads, where can I get this from? Also are the spark plugs a pain to remove, and what are your recomendation's on the type to use? Scott

    I have an 80 mile round trip to work and back, how do you lot fare? I have a 205 TD as my work hack but i managed to crash that on saturday, so the VR6 will have some mile's piled on it until I get it fixed! Any big journy's out there? Scott

    I would check them but I dont seem to have the adaptor that removes the HT leads from the plug. Is changing the plugs a pain?

    I have just been away for a while so when I tryed to start up my VR the battery was flat, so I put in on charge all night and it fired first time. The problem is that it is misfiring like a b*stard. I think its the HT leads so I have a new set on order, could it be anything else? Will it be ok to drive as the leads will not be here untl wednesday! Scott

    I need to change my HT leeds as my engine is misfiring and upon inspection number 1 HT leed gave me an electrical shock. So I want to remove this but I cant seem to do it. Any ideas? Scott

    I have the origonal BBS wheels on my VR6 and they are looking a bit tired now, so I think its time for a set of net alloys. Im torn between some 16" porsche 944 wheels or go the euro look. I will be getting some new suspension in the near future (prob Koni Shocks and springs) so it would look right. Could you lot please point me in the right direction as to where to buy some alloys with pics and your recomendations? I dont want to go bigger than 16" as the car is a daily driver. Any advice??? Thanks Scott
