Luke 0
i know a few of u guys&girls out there r usin bmc carbon box filters, ive bin told there the best 4 power gains as a filter goes, but wil i still get the sexy roar i get frm an induction kit? *-)
jezmoz 0
the bmc is an induction kit! Yes it gives a nice roar at high revs and doesn't suffer the heat soak. But i hear the ram air is a noisier kit, if that's what you want?
VR6Pete 1,455
BMC's are loud, on full throttle, but subtle when driving around down, which is ideal if you dont want members of the pubic ear's bleeding!
Ciaran 4
i had a ram air now have a BMC due to getting an ASBO with the ram air so gives u an idea of how loud that is.BMC is plenty loud and does give the best power gains

Luke 0
thanks 4 the advise people, def gona get the bmc then, does ne1 know wot sort of money they r,does £160 sound bout right?
Craig 0
So, according to the results obtained from a rolling road, which induction kit is best?
Seademon 0
I've had both types and on the road where it counts I didnt notice any real difference in power only that the BMC was quieter so I took it off and even on full throttle it wasnt loud (I had the cold air feed on) :0) I think a lot of people on here see that the majority of people recommend the BMC and think thats the best you can get but I wouldnt say it is just because its carbon and doesnt suffer from heat soak. If your sitting in traffic how are you going to reap the benefits? Its each to their own at the end of the day and I prefer a bit of noise and attention - good or bad but I've not been given an ASBO yet ha ha
mk3anni 0
On the rollers and on the road there's nothing to tell between the 2, apart from the noise level. I had the ramair before I went charged, the BMC seems over priced to me, and as i said already its no better than the RamAir.
Craig 0
Did you run any kind of cold air feed to your RamAir kit? Curious ... and for future reference!
Ciaran 4
well my car made 194 and 183 lb/ft torque with the ram air and an exhaust never tried it with the BMC but it feels faster most definatly. but figures are what proves things so il say no more. miss the noise of the ramair but not the police attention
Seademon 0
Did you run any kind of cold air feed to your RamAir kit? Curious ... and for future reference!I'm running a cold air feed to my air filter from the front bumper behind the bonrath air vent.
antera309 3
You can't go wrong with the BMC. Leave the cold air feed off and it's plenty noisy enough at full throttle to get heads turning. Fit the cold air feed and you get a more subdued sound and slightly more power.I tried a RamAir kit previously, but didn't like it because it was very noisy at part-throttle and I only wanted the noise when I'm caning it. Also, it didn't come with a heat shield to stop it from sucking in hot air from around the engine. Having one fabricated would have pushed the total cost to more than a BMC.Plus I think Carbon fibre looks cool!! (h)
dubloke 4
you can make your own heat shield , as i did, for the ram air for less than a tenner, and given that claire can get the ram air filters for like 50 tokens, the bmc is an expensive option over it. and if you dont fit the ram pipe to the bmc you will still end up sucking in warm air from the engine bay and when carbon warms up, tho it does take longer than an open filter design granted, it will produce as much if not more heat soak than a good open filter anyway. the ram design of the bmc when used with its cai pipework is slightly more effecient at speed due to the extra volocity of air it draws in, but is by no means a hands down winner if people consider cost verses effectiveness!
