Guest couzens
The plastic spoiler that goes underneath the front bumper, can anyone explain why I have one without the central indentations?? Mines completely smooth.Anyone know the VAG part no for the indented one??Simon
kilokilla 0
not sure but would guess its either after market 1 or its been fillered. If its same shape as normal vr6 1 i would think its gotta look a little nicer .mmm just thought do you mean the line down the middle where the 2 pieces join cos oe 1s are 2 peice im guessing yours is one piece . Guest couzens
Yep mine is a one piece one. Someone reckons its off a CL or something. Its straight and smooth no joins.
binliner 0
Are you sure its one piece? all the standard ones are 2 pieces... it is probably the late VR one (same as on CLs etc) they tend to join a lot better in the middle. are the sides shallower than the front? Guest couzens
Actually sorry have just checked. It is a two piece spoiler which joins in the middle. However is completely smooth. When you say shallower on the sides do you mean the depth of it? yes it gets smaller the depth of it as it goes round the side of the bumper. If it is standard Vr R-plate one, do I replace it for the 2 piece indented one in the centre or leave it? GPC do VR6 spoilers for £30.
acf8181 0
if you want a early vr6 spolier, i'd recomend getting a genuine one (eithewr new or from breakers)...a friends gsf one didn't last long at all (on a standard ride height car), my o.e. one rubs stuff with no probs. binliner 0
yeah couzens thats the standard one on late vrs... id get the deeper (indented) one. My gsf one is ok £32 and Ive just bought a GPC one to colour code which seems to fit a bit better
tommy 0
dont get one from gsf.....i had to take by first one back as it was such a bad fit,the second one fits better but not by alot...go genuine if you can!
VR6Steve 0
Genuine is about £52 + VAT.
tommy 0
Genuine is about £52 + VAT.if you put the non genuine one up against the genuine one you would see why![ Edited Sun Jun 06 2004' date= 11:44PM ]
Guest couzens
GPC Genuine = £
binliner 0
theyre not genuine... well the ones they had at inters for £30 werent anyway
Guest couzens
Aren't they? That's unusual for GPC because they always say/have genuine parts.
VR6Steve 0
Yeah I looked at those and didn't think they were genuine either. They certainly were not in VW packaging at any rate.
kilokilla 0
i bought a set at inters that i dont think was on gpc stand i think they was laying on floor on side ov a stand and they fit perfectly .they had few sets there just in seethrough packaging .am i right in thinking the gpc stand was the one that stocked nearly all wheel caps lights plastic trims and was on right hand side as you walked in. binliner 0
yeah that was gpc... the one with all the badges on a board! I asked if they were genuine and he said no, you can check by looking on the back if theyre genuine they'll have the part no etc stamped on the back
kilokilla 0
yes thought it was that stand i didnt get mine off ov that 1 there was another bloke there selling them too and im not sure if they are genuine cos i cant be bothered to pull em back off to check but as i said they are a perfect fit so i am chuffed any way really smartened up front end compared with old scuffed up 1s. binliner 0
yeah mine has had no end of abuse... its scuffed, scraped and split so Ive got a nice new one that Ive smoothed and painted just for special occasions
acf8181 0
i'm forever hitting mine (o.e.) on stuff...a couple of minor scrapes but no sign of damage.[ Edited Tue Jun 08 2004, 10:18AM ]
