Stainless Manifold fitting help!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok so my mk2 VR went into the Garage today to have a 6 branch Stainless fitted (Raceland) and the garage just phoned me to sat it wont fit because the flange on the manifold has only 2 bolt holes, and what its mating to (VR standard?) has 3 so i won't fit?

So hows everyone else fitted theres? I phoned raceland and was just told very politely he knows nothing about them, they just import them and sometimes they don't fit! WTF! Great customer service!

Help me OBD1 Kenobi (get it ;)) your my only hope! (Sorry for the cheesy joke!)

HELP!

You are young but you will learn my appretice! :-p - I've not fitted one of these myself so can't be much help suggesting a solution.

But if it genuinely doesn't fit then raceland's response is not acceptable. If they are a registered business (pretty sure raceland would be) then the goods they supply have to be "fit for purpose". So if you don't find a way to make it fit (which you shouldn't have to do but we've all have a go at making parts fit!) then go back to them and demand a suitable replacement or refund

Hopefully someone will have a solution for you though

you could get the existing triangular (3 hole)flange measured up and have a manifold plate made up to those dimentions and have this plate tig welded to the six branch, thus keeping your system OE. any engineering or fab shop worth theyre salt should be able to do this for you at a reasonable price! 8-| 8-|

I have a raceland manifold. Mine came with an adapter plate that converts the 3-bolt fitting on the end of the cat to the 2-bolt fitting required by the manifold.

Yours should have come with this adapter too. If it's missing, maybe Raceland can provide you with another one.

I'v got one on my mk2 vr and it should have a 2 bolts with springs and a swivel gasket that bolts to the 3 holed flange. Hope that makes sense. Also if your cars really low you may find it catches the anti roll bar and needs denting in a bit.
