Stupid question time, I know there are three service codes according to another thread on here, as I didn't get a handbook for the car, just wondered if somebody would be kind enough to tell me what the codes were and what they mean.

Ever since I bought the car, it's read in00 upon turning on.

Many thanks. :(

Should think it will be along the lines of

Oil and filter change

Check condition of poly vee belt, advise as ness

Check coolant, change if necessary

Check brake and clutch fluid for moisture absorbtion, change if necessary

Check aircon (if fitted) re gas as requested

Check discs and pads all round, change if necessary

Change spark plugs

Change air filter (if standard one is fitted)

Change fuel filter

Check all rubber joints and mounts, advise if ness

Check lights, wipers, equipment, advise if ness

Grease/lubricate bonnet catch, boot catch and door mechanisms

Check handbrake adjustment

Check tyres, general condition, tread depth, pressures, advise as ness

Check condition of power steering fluid, advise as ness

Check gearbox oil level and condition, advise as ness

Grease battery terminals

Check bearings and moving mounts for play, advise as ness.

Think that's probably about it, must admit, i've not worked in a garage for 5 years now, so there may be the odd thing i've missed off :D

Hmmmm. I'm kind of tempted to send it in for the big service, just to get everything checked out, although, changing all the fluids, plugs and filters, could be done by myself. Tricky one. I think I'll give VW a call and ask how much it is. That should have some effect on my decision!!!

BTW' date=' there is also an "OEL" service indicator which appears in the same space. This is the oil service indicator. This can also be reset without any diagnostic equipment

you can reset all the service codes manually without any diagnostic equipment, link to how to do it is here!

Spoke to the service receptionist who was really useful.... not. She said that it is a regular 20k service, and it will cost £150 inc vat. Thats not including plugs or filter. Think I'm gonna do the service myself, reset the code and then spend the saved cash on a rolling road tune!!!
