Richard Baty 0
I've got a wheel bearing type of noise at >40mph, prominent when turning left, but constant rather than the traditional "wub wub wub" that is symptomatic of a wheel bearing. Inspection of the driver's side front bearing, with the wheel off, would suggest no excessive play. Any ideas anyone - before I bite the bullet and do the wheel bearing anyway?Cheers,
vr200 0
is the tyre ok?? my m8's celica was the same, changed almost everythin then it turned out to be the tyre lol
Seademon 0
CV Joint? Best get it up on the ramps and have a look underneath before you do the wheel bearing etc
Richard Baty 0
Tyre seems fine, and there is no clunking on slow or tight corners that I'd expect from a knack'd cv joint. Maybe worth inspecting the back o.s wheel?!
FishWick 21
You can't check front bearing play by feel unless you take the CV joint out and then wobble the hub. If the bearings have gone the steering will feel very woolly and slack and not necessarily make any noise, unless really bad! If in doubt change them because they can get bad enough to cause the outer edge of the disc to rub on the brake caliper carrier.
