Fixed Speed Cameras!!!

Recommended Posts

Where I live in Leeds ,fixed speed cameras are taking the piss, there are cameras on loads of the local 30,40 and 70 mph roads!! I can agree with cameras on 30 and some 40 roads for pedestrians safety etc, but putting them on dual carriageways at 70 mph just takes the fun out of my driving, wouldn't it be fairer to have coppers parked up on the 60 and 70 roads so they might let u off if you go 10 mph over at 3am when you are only risking your own safety and nobody elses. A fixed camera will get you the fine and points regardless of the time and conditions. Anybody else got any views on cameras in general and do you have far too many in your area?? ~:(

I would agree with your opinion. There is a place for cameras in residential areas, near schools etc... However there is a degree of piss taking/revenue making in my opinion.

What gets me is when they put then in places where you have to accelerate, like going up a hill or you have added momentum from going down a hill.

I don't know if any of you have these flashing 30mph speed limit signs which come on when you go above 30, but I think these are much better as a deterent in built up areas.

as far as i can remember there's only one place that has them flashing speed limit jobbies in leeds and its not localto me, it flashes to say slow down and if you don't , there is a speed camera to catch you out further down the road. At least then I have been warned, just been reading an old max power and it said the tories have promised to scrap all uneccesary speed cameras and only keep them outside schools and GENUINE accident blackspots. I don't believe any party 100% as we all know they fib a bit for elections but that would definitely help sway me to vote for them if it was true

well im voting tories as the did say that, and also mentioned the extortionate fuel prices. yey. also, i have a couple of those signs that flash up my may. theyre only small ones tho and they flash your speed up in bright red led's. it did make me slow down the first few times, but theres never a camera after em, so im expecting them to put one there as i go through at 50 now, lol. sods law.

Perhaps none of you "Down Sarfers" saw the thing in our Scottish rag about Catseye cameras that can see you at over 1mile away, check your tax disc, AND....alledgedly your tread depth!!! The cameras are no less than the size of a fag packet and are dotted along the centre of the road.... talk about espionage, to much "Mission Impossible 2" me thinks!!!

Yes... exactly, what's worse is they're ACTIVE! however police say that they won't be used for speeding (Yeah right!! BIG, No.... Humungous Pink thing Flies by!!) apparently they're gonna be linked to a Digital board at the side of the road to display the offenders registration & speed (...And then you'll get your present in the post Te...he NOT!!!!) ~:( ~:( Grrrrrrr

I have an Origin B2, with the LRC-100 Diffuser. I cannot speak highly enough of this combination, even though I have had a few niggly problems with it. It has 100% saved my license.

5 Star recommendation!!!!

Speed Cameras are a good idea in built-up areas, near dangerous junctions and other accident blackspots. The trouble is, the government have completely abused them, using them as another form of stealth taxation. Someone here in High Wycombe has written "Piggy Bank" and "£ £ £ Tax Machine" on all the speed cameras here. Fair play.
