just2zang 0
Hello peeps, well i just purchased a z-engineering charger for my vr, but it doesn't come with a chip for fueling. I'm gonna need one to setup, but its a bit of a prob coz its a obd2, and isn't a case of just putting in a new chip.. Does anyone have any idea who I can go to in london? Stealth have already said that they cannot do it as they do not have the necesary equipment. Also is there anything i should watch out for when i'm fitting it, e.g. the position of the air mass? sensor the kit i have has a bosch re-circulating dump valve. please follow this link [ Edited ]
eViL 0
eek.. hope the charger was cheap! You should be able to purchase a New Chip from Nic Saran Racing. Duno how much..Be sure which size pulley you have too otherwise fuelling'll be all over the place with the wrong chip!
mightyvr6 0
You can buy a chip from ns racing, or directly from z-engineering.com or get a custom chip, tuned on a rolling road.Because your obd2 you can put the maf after the charger and it *should* run ok but I recommend putting it before the charger and running the dv as spirals of air from the chargyer will knacker your maf eventually and you'll run rich whilst idling. six appeal 53
All Sounds far to risky to me, your much better off selling it too me! LOL!

Duno how much..Be sure which size pulley you have too otherwise fuelling'll be all over the place with the wrong chip!its a 6psi charger' date=' and why the eek? The charger was from a reliable source that turbo'd his vr. Yeah there's no point getting the pre-programmed chip from what vince has told me. So i need someone who can custom map a chip in london. I know the kit was originally purchased from him though and fitted to the car by vince. SIX Appeal, U wish mate Still luv yer motor! six appeal 53
Cheers mate, good luck, can Vince not sort you a re map?
just2zang 0
no, he needs to do something with the circuit board in the ecu and doesn't have the equipment to do it. apparently eurotec might be able to do it
six appeal 53
Yeh Reuben and Vinesh are pretty good down there, but they don't have a rolling road unfortunately (
mightyvr6 0
chips can be copied if you can find someone with obd2. Think Reuben has obd2 z-charger, so he might be able to sort you out.
just2zang 0
yeah i've got it booked in for wednesday at eurotec. getting the sebring zaust fitted as well. Did i tell u that i bought a new vr? got it on saturday, a mulberry vr highline with 48k on the clock, won some 17" bbs rc on ebay on sunday morning, and fitted them on tuesday. see my link below.[ Edited Fri May 14 2004, 02:44PM ]
six appeal 53
Looks nice mate, please tell me its getting lowered too though! What made you change from the Black to the Mulberry one?
simey 0
just2zang a chip will cost £250 + vat, then to fit this you need to take the ecu to a electronics company where they can take the old chip out then put in a chip socket. Then you can put the new chip in and take it out when you sell the sc.(Electronic company will charge per pin on the chip, 44 pins)Make sure you use 4 bar fuel pressure regulator and a one way valve on the pipe that goes to the carbon canister.P.S. Vince at stealth can order the chip.
just2zang 0
cheers simey, hows the suspension setup, cos i need to buy a new one
six appeal 53
If you going for a new suspension set up you can't go wrong with FK Konigsports coilovers for the price.I have just replaced my Koni adjustables SSK kit with them, and even though I've gone another inch lower, the ride is infinitely better! And now nice and low compared to before!
just2zang 0
I'm worried about coilovers. I fitted some avo ones to my fezzy turbo. The ride height was never 100% spot on from corner to corner. How much lower does this kit go at the highest setting? I dont want to lower the car more than about 35mm. There are so many speed humps around here it is unbelievable. Just ask simey who drove down. i use to go over sleeping policeman in the middle of 2 of them coz i use to hit my sump in the fezzy. VR6Steve 0
I would not compare most coilovers to Avo's. A mate had a set of their non coilover suspension and it leaked and died within about a year. It was sent back to Avo for repair and came back in the same state. i have heard of others that have leaked too. If you cannot go too low (like me) i would just get a set of lowered suspension (like mine about 30mm).
simey 0
cheers simey' date=' hows the suspension setup, cos i need to buy a new one[/quote']I'm running koni ride height adjustables, rate them highly.
six appeal 53
Yeh I know of 2 people with Avo's on VR's that have nothing but leakage problems!
just2zang 0
been told that its a stage 2 zr2 charger running 0.6 bar. According to my calculator that is somewhere in the region of 8.5 psi. Anyone think this sounds right?
jcorallo 0
Zr1 has ribbed pulleys (rubbish)Zr2 has toothed pulleys (good) Jules
jcorallo 0
ZR2 produces 0.6 bar at full tilt - about 7000 engine rpms. The "stage" is on the kit, not the charger. So a stage 2 Z kit comes with cams.Jules
just2zang 0
yeah definately a z2 kit then but 0.6 bar is 8.5+psi, isn't that rather high? Anyways still got massive problems finding someone to do a custom chip, have to wait at least a month.[ Edited Wed May 19 2004, 01:24PM ]
jcorallo 0
high? thats how it makes the power! you get about 15bhp per psi as a rough rule of thumb...Jules
just2zang 0
yeah, i thought most of these chargers did 6 psi and 245bhp at the crank on a standard vr. any ideas what power u would expect at the wheels or crank with 8.5 psi?
just2zang 0
so 8x15psi=120bhp+180ish(obd2)=300 bhp!!! I wish!!!!
