Knocking noise... please do not say its my driveshaft! :(

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago i noticed a whirring and kncoking noise when slowing down from speed.... I thought i got it sorted as a anto roll bar link had snapped.

However, the whirring is still faintly there, and when reversing into my driveway the other day i noticed like a clicking / knocking noise coming from the front passenger on wheel on full lock.. what could this be? do i need to get a big wad of money from the bank to fix it!? :(

mine was making a noise from that arean but not cv... more clanging than clicking, turned out to be something to do with hydraulic fluid needing bleeding on the clutch lever....? any suggestion helps in situations like this!

I think your worrying too much. A drive shaft is a big bit of metal, if its broken your car won't go.

Most likely a CV joint.

Ok this noise is starting to piss me off now....

My mate done my rear wheel bearing which got rid of the whining, but said he could not really see anything wrong from the drivers side front wheel where the knocking was coming from.....

Ok, so I drove the car for 2 weekends and it has been fine - no knocking, i thought the problem had disshapeared, but took the car out last night, and fuck a duck... its back, bad style!

Its this loud knocking when steering slowly around a corner, its very strange, it only comes around every now and then and is getting louder, and i can feel the knocks throught the steering wheel, other than that the car drives perfect..

I was thinking

1. Shattered wheel bearing

2. CV Joint

3. Low gearbox oil?
