Earwig 89
Hey there girls and boys ! !I am looking to smooth my Tailgate !grr 1. Remove Wiper.2. Remove VW Badge.3. Remove Rear spoiler4. Remove lock from site.Steps 1 and 2 are straight forward.Step 3 and 4 however I seek guidance :-)I have heard that removing the rear Spoiler means removing the glass from it and replacing it with the glass from a GL. Is this true? I heard the mounting holes for the spoiler are through the glass ?I do not have a remote boot release as it was never fitted when the alarm was installed. So I need a smooth rear plinth that will allow me to still "open" my boot !I don't think having the lock in it still is of to much importance as central locking has never failed and I have not used the key in the boot in the 3 years I have had the car.I have heard of cult society but are they a good fit and look good? And do they fit as they are supposed to or do they need trimming modding etc....As always help is greatly appreciated :-)
dubloke 4
cl glass will be needed for a smooth glass look unless you just put black bolts in the vacant holes as they do indeed pass thru the screen, the cult society plinths do look good but varying reports on fit and finish are in abundance! you pays ya money etc etc etc.
Earwig 89
http://www.cult-society.co.uk/vw/8c.htmlI am guessing this is what I am after for a smooth rear look ?Anyone have any links as to where I can actually buy one? I can't see prices or anything. And the best place for a CL glass?Scrapyard may be hard for me as most are for trade only in my area.....
Earwig 89
Found new link.http://www.cult-society.com/frameset.asp?site=ecompany85 Euro....Loving the Tune that plays to !!
dubloke 4
better off buying a new cl screen tbh as they are bonded in. seals are attached to the screen itself and is difficult to seal properly when removed from one car to another!
Earwig 89
Ok what I have decided to do is to get all the work done and have the the holes plugged/bunged/capped or whatever can be done.I will then get a NEW CL screen fitted which I have been quoted £100+VAT to fit a brand new one. I just have to find the extra money for it maybe in a month or so.....

vdubgirl 3
Cult Plinths are awful I bought one for mine when it went into the bodyshop. There was a huge gap along the edges! Gap was big enough to fit a 50p peice down it! They tried to fit it on my car but the fit was so bad it was better to leave my old plinth on there and have the lock!!!!!I'm having a custom one made for my car at some point this year. badboyV6 4
as claire said - absolutely awful! im getting mine fitted by PF Autos- to do this they are plastic welding to the edges to make it long enough, and also removing the hidden boot lock as the setup is the most awful installation needed- not fit for a vw.... Im going to fit a solenoid now..
