bazz780 0
best bet - find a pothole somewhere, take pics and then claim off that, rock in the road will be an easy escape for em!!
Slim 0
You didn't see a great big stone on the road ahead of you?
B6MFD 0
no i was going round a left bend and it was on the left hand side
vr6matt 0
yea sounds like a plan, go and find a massive pothole mate! (or dig your own) and take a picture of that, as not sure whether a rock in the road as much standing they might claim it has nothing to do with them.
purple highline monster 0
councils do accept claims for damge caused by roads, usually they want know the ins and outs of a ducks arse though! if you car is lowered etc they wont usually entertain a claim though! dont ask me why but they say the modified suspension caused it! my mate had it, nothing to do with the crater they had left unrepaired in the road??? matth76 1
If the stone looks as though it is part of the road then it would be the council's liability as it's not properly maintained. If it's from someone else I doubt you'll get anywhere. A couple of months back I was driving back from work ... it was getting dark but still light... steaming down the dual carriageway (at about 70ish) I come over a hill and I saw in front of me in my lane on the road what looked like a very large plastic sheet so I start indicating to go into the inside lane amongst the busy traffic ...(this all happened within a couple of seconds by the way) .. just as I was moving into the inside lane I saw it was a bloody great sofa!! Some slow codger in the inside lane is refusing to move out of my way (clearly not seeing me indicate nor seeing the very distinct obstacle in my lane) but I do or die and swerve into his lane (forcing him to slow down)...narrowly missing the sofa by literally an inch I reckon. When you're doing 70 everything happens so quickly. Not sure who I'd have claimed against had I hit it.I've heard stories of people who have lowered their car and damaged their car on speed bumps... they claimed and actually won...but only because the local council had "illegally" made the bumps higher than the maximum allowed 10cms height. Good luck mate.
Petesvw 0
Defo try a claim mate. Plenty of big pot holes up 'ere in yorkshire mate if you need a pic.lol. Could just say you were on a day trip.
TVR6 0
Perhaps things hace changed...Years back I had a lowered car with body kit etc. I was driving through the west end (London) and there was a cop diverting traffic, well actually splitting traffic between a left turn and the road ahead. I slowed and noticed a huge dip (crater) in the road and pointed to it but the cop signalled me on. I got out the car and he got a little abusive and told me to stop obtructing the flow of traffic. I explained that my car was low and that it would likely tear the front of my car off and could I please go on ahead with the other cars. I think spite got the betetr of him as he told me to take the left turn or he'd have me arrested. I took the turn as best i could and yup, lost half the front bumper. Tried putting in a claim to both the Police and the Council and after 5 months of constant writing back and forth I got no where!

Maz 0
think maybe you need to accept you've suffered an unforseen misfortune and get on with it (ignoring all the dishonest scamming of the naughty scamps above... )

bazz780 0
good advice from madge too - i had to replace alot of my suspension after slumping the car in a nasty ditch on a dual carriageway, the mechanic said it appears that the parts were on their way out anyways so i did not claim after - its always better to be honest i guess
