Engine Rebuild, - Spacer Gasket.

Jey all, have finnaly got some money on the go now,

and I am away to rebuild a vr6 engine I have sitting going to get most parts from VW, but am looking to purchase a spacer headgasket to lower the compression ratio, was wondering what gaskets are on the market and if anyone has any recomendations on one to use.

also i was looking to purchase, a VF Engineering stage 1 supercharger kit, with current exchange rate it works out at like 1,963.05 GBP from the price not including shipping, i was thinking shipping would be a few hundered, possibly ?

but all the suppliers i can find in this country are charging £2800 for a stage 1 kit which is a bit rediculous if you ask me,

i realise there are a few people on here with kit's fitted can anyone give me some info on how much it cost, suppliers etc..

you need to add shipping, Vat, import duty to your £2k price. Probably not a lot in it after all that.

C2 motorsports or schimmell (both in the US) do good headgasket spacers.

Stealth have apparently tried out a new metal head gasket spacer which is supposed to be v. good - contact them to find out more.

if you are going low compression i would reccommend fitting low compression pistons, I did alot of research on this subject and came to the conclusion that to do it properly you need to fit low comp pistons,

here is a link to ebay for a real bargin,JE pistons as you may well know are first class and usually very expensive, I wish these were for sale when i did my conversion, if stealth did a low comp engine he would use JE, I know because i asked vince for a price to build a turbo engine

if you are going ahead with the rebuild then why not do it the right way and have less worries about cylinderhead gasket failures,

i have a low comp engine and run a standard victor reinz gasket with many miles on the engine and 321bhp, I had nothing but leaks when i fitted a 3 layer metal gasket.

others swear by them, my experiences dictated how my project went forward

also these pistons are designed to expand and endure as much power as you want to throw at them, i have burnt holes in standard pistons running slightly lean in less than a minute, (lesson learnt)
